What computer program do I use to edit/cut portions from a DVD?

I want to use just a scene of two for a work project and have no clue on how to do it. I know there are many here on the board that are well verse on the this topic. I need your wisdom.

Thanks, Rob

I'd recommend Handbrake, which allows you to import selected chapters from a DVD. It encodes in MPEG-4 or AVI format.

If you need to cut the chapter down further, you can use iMovie (if you're on a Mac), and I think Windows Movie Maker will work as well.
