So the first official teaser trailer has been released for the adaptation of one of my favorite video game series.

Official Site
Full Cast

Mark Walhberg stars as the title character, with Mila Kunis as the beautiful assassin Mona Sax. It's directed by John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines), with a screenplay by newcomer Beau Thorne.

It's out October 17th.

Considering the somewhat bumpy history of video game movies (read: there's been no good ones), I've steered myself for disaster with low expectations. But I gotta say, that trailer looks great. True, if this didn't already carry the Max Payne name, I'd barely bat an eyebrow. But those shots of bullet-time shoot-outs and the Aesir Corporation excite me.

The only game I can think of that would make an interesting movie is Shadow of the Colossus.

Another one that's coming up soon is Prince of Persia, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. It's being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, so at least plenty of cash will be thrown at the screen.

Six low-res promo shots have been released. They nailed the look of the graphic novel cutscenes from the game.

Love these games, can't wait for the movie to be released!

Not sure I'd pick Wahlberg as Max though..

Speaking of Remedy, it looks like whoever made this film managed to produce a script (through however many drafts), hire the director and do the casting, do all the pre-production, do all the shooting, do all the editing and pickups and the rest of the post-production, develop the promo and launch it, and (projecting a bit ahead) get the thing into the theaters -- and do that all before Remedy has managed to release even one new industry-event demo, video demo, screenshot update, or even news update for Alan Wake.
