hey there, since it's July and most of us are going to spend at least a pair of weeks at the beach, I've got this traditional dilemma for the guys and the dollz.
Considering everything, what do you like to wear? In my opinion, no matter how chubby I can look at the end of the year I just don't care, I give complete consensus to the speedo because I hate the typical fantasy colors they give to the shorts. I hate the nets and I rarely wear boxers even during the year. I like the feeling of freedom while swimming (I swim a lot, i like to stay in the water), and I think shorts can be an issue if you're a swimmer. So, I go for speedos... Mainly black or blue, sometimes red. I think they're a tool for seduction also.... And what about the girls? Do you like to wear bikinis or entire costumes? What do you like to look on boys at the beach: fantasy shorts or just speedos that catch your eye?

Hahaha, great subject! What is swimwear? Oh, I do vaguely recall that leopard skin bikini of days gone by. And that really cute hot pink with chocolate brown swirly patterned Pucci print bikini in my Miami days. Then there were those little spandex-y one pieces cut high and cut low front, back sides and all around. I recall one that was lime green with black letters all over it. Not very comfie to wear though. I preferred the tie-in-the-back bikini tops with tie-on-the-sides bikini bottoms. But that was then. After bikinis, I moved to shorts and tanks. At first it was OVER the bikini, as if I might just slip out of the shorts and tank and go for a swim. Sure.
After shorts and tanks, I moved to longer shorts or short casual slip on skirts with light weight tops to wear on the beach. Sitting under a beach umbrella. Waiting until the long shadows time of day for walks on the sand. Now I scarcely differentiate between beach/swim wear and any other casual wear. I never was much of a swimmer so I don't really require a swimsuit. When/IF I go into our pool it is barefoot up to my knees just to cool down or test the temperature. I marvel at those who do wear very little on a public beach when they have very much that would be better off concealed. It is brave. I am cowardly. Plus, I have a vivid memory of the past that I would not want compromised. It's too horrifying. Susan

Back when I was slim and hot, I wore this really gorgeous black velvet one-piece suit. It was cut nicely so it showed off my feminine qualities while still being relatively modest. I rarely wore a two-piece because since 5th grade I've been blessed/cursed with a massive rack that made bikinis too embarrassing to don. I did it once or twice and felt like I was going to pop out any moment. Uncomfy. Now that I'm more...erm...portly...I tend to either go for the t-shirt/shorts combo or if I'm willing to plunk down the massive wads of cash, I buy a figure-flattering one-piece with the whole skirt/babydoll thing going on. Hides things like my upper thighs and underarm flab. Good god I need to get serious about losing weight. LOL

I've had the same black suit for about 5 years now. It's a textured black one piece with a small key-hole cut in the front--and most times I wear a black swim dress over it--thin nylon, really comfy. Eric wears swim shorts, though sometimes I can convince him to wear his red Speedos... :)

Say no more, Rocky. Reading your post, I got the instant mental image of Eric in his red speedos! Susan

I'm not that into swimwear. Or like... it's really nice when it fits. But I can never find nice swim wear. I actually had the same discussion with my friend the other day... But I figured out that I really like swim suits looking like the ones Marilyn Monroe was often seen wearing on photos from the 50's...

I don't see an immediate connection between being Italian and wearing speedos.

I have a pair of brown plaid shorts that I wear. I'm not a fan of the regular swim suit fabric. And these shorts work quite well. -Req

I usually swim in a silver pair of basketball shorts, or my old gray swimshorts. I like them both because they dry quickly, and I hate sitting around after swimming in wet shorts. I used to refuse to swim without a t-shirt, but I've gotten over that in the past couple of years. -cg

Aahahaha... oh my God! I wouldn't say a bit of prejudice... It's a lot. But I'm not offended. It's not my fault if the queer Italian stylists (god bless them) send this kitsch image to the people and ship it all over the world. I never saw a good-taste, regular (straight, gay or bi) guy wearing black socks with sandals. That's a German habit I never got that later has been spread all over Europe, which is terrible because it's so ridiculous. Sandals are made to be worn barefoot. Jewelry, well, I have some male golden or silver necklaces/bracelets that my parents, friends or other people gave me, but I never wore them at the beach or in places with crowds.

I really like the "pucker butt" style. No saggy pocket in the behind, took them long enough to invent.

I try not to freak people out by donning swimwear. So I just don't go swimming in the summer.

Despite my exhibitionist tendencies at the Fest (Twin Peaks make people take off their clothes, it's a known fact) I haven't been in public in a bathing suit since I was a teenager, myself. (unless you count my apartment pool & hot tub when no one is looking.) My standard swimwear has been jeans and a t-shirt.
