Have any movies ever moved you in a Spiritual or religious way? What are they and how? There are some choices that seem obvious to me as a Christian. But some others are movies like Rocky. Two that surprised me recently were Back To The Future and Star Wars 3 or 6 or whatever, how ever you look at it. Back To The Future did with the scene with Marty's dad and Biff. I seem to never grow tired of this movie or that scene. Tonight, when I watched it. I knew why, or how it speaks to me. One way it spoke to me is that there is more to your destiny than what you control. I choose to call that God. The other way is that you can make your life better or worse by simple choices. I know that doesn't seem very deep. But this scene always seems to move me. I even become teary eyed at times. Star Wars 3 I watched this now long ago. How it spoke to me is that no matter what you have done or has been done to you. You still have a purpose on this planet. You may not get to that plan the way you thought or even know what it was, but you will still make it. Anakin became Darth Vader, but despite all the darkness he still did what he was suppose to do. Well what about the babies who die? Or the children who die at a young age? I don't know. But I do feel like they did have a purpose while they were here.

I found Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain to be the most amazing spiritual/metaphysical movie since Kubrick's 2001. Hugh Jackman gives an incredible performance as a man who spans 1000 years in his odyssey to defeat Death. He is a conquistador encountering Mayan mysteries, a scientist looking for a cure to save his wife (played by Rachel Weiss), and a spiritual master on a spherical spaceship to eternity, accompanied by the Tree of Life...amazing mind-blowing sequences that moved me to tears. This movie is as light as Aronofsky's Pi, and Requiem for a Dream are dark.

This movie not only scared the crap out of me but it also makes you realize stuff. I'm not a commie or anything. I swear.

Agree with everything above. So glad to find someone else who found The Fountain as touching as I did.
