What is the meaning of everyone's usernames on this board?  A lot of them just make me say - WTF?

Enlighten me, gentlemen and babes of the Gazette.

PS-I know some are directly TP or Lynch related so you could tell me why you chose that one as well.

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper

I chose superducky because when i was a kid, i had a stuffed duck called ducky (I still have him to this day). Anyway, I always used to play superman with my ducky, and one day, I just when i was playing, i called him superducky, and the name just kinda stuck.

"Sea" is for Seattle. I was born, raised, and will probably die here.

"Totem" is my interest in Northwest Indian art and  totem poles.

I was also a fan of the old WHL Seattle Totems hockey team.

I was going to use the name "BensHornes"or "JerrysHornes", but nixed those.

I saw a red hued Black Bear while mushroom hunting in the Cascades right before I got my first email address so it became my account name and gradually evolved into one of my many identities.

Mine stems from one of my favorite Peaks scenes.  When Coop says he wants to lay everything out again, and Harry goes, "Rocks and bottles?" And Coop says, "Chalk and blackboard will be just fine." "Jelly donuts?" "Harry, that goes without saying."

Thought it had a ring to it. :)

KahlanMnel is a truncated version of the name Kahlan Amnell, a main character in the Terry Goodkind "Sword of Truth" book series, which I was very into at the time that I created my first ever screen name on AOL. AOL of course wouldn't allow more than 10 characters in a name, so I had to shorten it. And there you have it. I have dragged this name around with me to many places because it's just how people know me by now. However, if I had my druthers, I would change my name to Tinypants. Unfortunately, that's taken on almost every e-mail and IM service out there (even the damn domain name belongs to someone!) so I have very few instances of it in my vast online repertoire. (shit, it was even taken on tumblr...WTF?)

The board was shut down for awhile and so I choose this name when I signed back on.  My name is Kevin and it was 2006.  I didn't think anyone would have used the name Kevin6002.

Rigpa is the Tibetan term for the nature of mind; primordial, pure, pristine awareness.  Something I'm sure Coop was striving for.

From Roger Ebert's review of The Jerk:

It seems to me that there are two basic approaches to any kind of comedy, and in a burst of oversimplification I'll call them the Funny Hat and the Funny Logic approaches. The difference is elementary: In the first, we're supposed to laugh because the comic is wearing the funny hat, and in the second it's funny because of his reasons for wearing the funny hat.

A little reworking, and there you go. It was the name I chose for my domain, and after the big board changeover of aught-five, became my screename here.

Like rocksandbottles, I pulled mine from a favorite part of the show.

I think that in the last episode when Windom says "12 rainbow trout" to Annie, and when Pete says the same thing at the Sherrif's station, the effect is uncanny. What does it mean? 12 is a powerful number in numerology, and there are also 12 sycamores so there's got to be a conection.  It's a great little touch!

Back in the days (7-8 years ago?) when I signed up to this board, the internet was quite new to me. Back then I didn´t know you had to be cautious about your identity on open forum. Furthermore I felt odd about making up a new name so I simply chose my own name, Ditte. It´s just a Danish name. I comes from the name "Edith" for those who wanna know.

When the board changed I thought of changing it but then again, this is how people know me....

In 2001 I got the karaoke video for Blue Velvet & arranged to sing it in a "Ben"  outfit at the TP Fest before the film. I wanted to be intro'ed  as One Suave Fuck, but Fest organizer Eric Thomas refused to say it. Finally, Chris Mulkey took the mike from him & says "There's some guy who's supposed to sing for you."  Realizing I wasn't going to get my proper intro, I stepped out & Mulkey says:"I know this guy! It's Chris!" I took the mike from him & said:  "I'm One Suave Fuck. Now get off my stage. I need to sing."   I punnily cleaned up my title & it's been my TP screen & singing alias ever since...

Like Amanda, I once had a username that came from AOL shortening elephantman and sticking a number on the end (this was in 1995, when my parents discovered email).  When the board here reset, I elongated it to its natural form.

I am also very fond of yelling, "I am not an animal!"

QUOTE:I stole mine from a video game company.

Think they made the Star Trek:Generations game I used to play years ago. Remember seeing your username and wondering where I had seen it before...

Around the time I registered for the message board I was gonna use Letsrock as my username but altered it to LetsRoque because of the essay on project red room Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive : Lynchian Symptoms Exposed and Transposed .

Its an essential read for anyone looking to learn more about stuff such as the relationship between Lynchian Worlds and and Zizikean symptoms

I didn't understand much of the 44 page essay but this footnote seemed to stick in my head:

11. The Arm Man’s use of the phrase “the same” also deviously suggests that the Man From Another Place is Mr. Roque. In Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, The Man From Another Place is described as The Arm which means that he is the arm of the One-Armed Man. We see the One-Armed Man and The Man From Another Place reunited during Fire Walk’s denouement. Thus, when Lynch focuses upon the Arm Man’s arm within Mulholland Drive after introducing Mr. Roque, he implicitly highlights the sameness of Mr. Roque and the Man From Another Place. Mr. Roque’s name also sounds like “rock” and The Man From Another Place’s first line in Twin Peaks is “Let’s Rock.”

bio_hazard: picked after a friend came up with it as a name for our pub trivia team.  We were mainly biologists.  The name has the quality of Homer Simpson's barbershop quartet- the B-sharps.  A pun that's moderately funny the first time, and progressively less funny each additional time you use it.

(of course, whether it was funny the first time is still debatable)

Its started as a joke between Josh Eisenstadt and Myself. We have this belief that the most unheralded character in FWWM is "The Staring Man".  In the Hap's diner scene with Irene, Chet and Sam. There is a woodsman who sit down at the table by the enterance and just stares straight ahead.  Check it out!!!  Its pretty funny !!!!

Well, I have had different names at the old board. First HLH which was my initials and then AcidLoon which was the name I used years ago on every board I was on. That name was a mix between "Acidburn" which is the cyberspace name of Angelina Jolie's character in Hackers and then "loon" because I thought that sounded cool...

Then I got really, really into Sex and the City (hm...) and thought it was cool when Mr. Big called Carrie "kiddo" which I later found out he actually didn't. He calls her "kid"... but well... that was the reason I started calling myself Kiddo everywere... and now I just use the name because that's how people know me...
