my brother was the most popular back then. very athletic, an artist, very good looking. he won mr. legs contest.

my art teacher put me down saying I wasn't like him in the art department, she told me my work was crappy.

I did do a cool artwork, pink floyd "dark side of the moon" she said, nah, not good enough,  keep it up with cooking. my brother was very popular back then at our high school. lots of girls would ask if he was my brother, I said "yes" and they would ask me to give him their phone # heh! anyway just wondering if you people here had the same feeling as I did with your brothers or sis's that went to the same school you went to, not jealousy, just felt let down & being being used. that's all.

I think my brother might have been a little jealous of me, even as he put me down, but he was definitely the overachiever back then.

People were always stunned that my brother and I were related. We were both active in the music departments, but where he was really shy, belonged to the computer club, wore a tie to school every day and never had a girlfriend, I was the wild girl, wore short skirts and tight tops, barely showed up to school, dated all the bad boys.

It's all about choosing your own path, but yeah. People are always going to compare you! Ask Cindy Brady ;)

Fortunately for me and my brothers, there was an 11-year separation between when teachers saw me passing through the school system and when the oldest of my brothers came through. So by the time they hit high school, I was a distant memory and most of my teachers had already retired. This was probably a good thing, because being that we're from a small town, and apparently my last name is just obscenely rare there, my brothers would have been compared quite often to me. They're both good smart kids, but Kevin never really excelled academically and didn't join many activities other than football, track, and band. Cutter joined track and band, and did well academically, but that was about it. Neither of them really dated much but had a good circle of friends that overlapped with one another. Compared to me, though...when I was in school, I was an honors student, took AP classes, maintained a high GPA, joined academic decathlon and our school's competitive mathematics team. I was also in band, a huge presence in our theater department (I founded our school's Thespian Society), spent a couple of years in FFA, DJ'ed multiple school dances, dabbled in cheerleading, and was on yearbook. And I dated the most unbelievably rotten guys (mostly bad boys, a few not). It sounds like I did a lot, but really, the only things from school that took up a lot of my time were theater and homework. Everything else was easy and consumed very little time (yearbook, band, and FFA were all scheduled classes).

I definitely was not popular. Not by any stretch of the imagination. If I were to decide which of us kids was actually popular in high school, it would be Kevin. Both of my brothers are just all around good guys and they made friends very easily and kept them easily, though Kevin was more outgoing with people and was therefore known and liked by almost the entire school. Cutter spent most of his time being known as "Kevin's bro". Poor dude. :)

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper

I would've hung out with her in a heartbeat. Most of my friends in high school were the wild or unusual kids (which I define as "Not part of a mainstream clique"). They were far more interesting. :D

um, what? No, I know that everyone was friends with me because I had the best pot. I'd have hung out with all you cats if you liked to smoke in the woods after school.

LOL J, your boner is showing.

I have to say, 12r is one of the coolest people you will ever meet. Hands down.

People have said to me I am the kind of guy that would push a girl down on the playground and it would mean that I liked her.  That I showed my affection through being mean.

Ah, that's most little boys though. :)  That's always how I knew who liked me. I was such a tomboy though that I was always hanging out with the guys playing sports, skateboarding, or breakdancing during our lunches. So the guys were extra rough with me in their "flirtations" because they knew I could handle it. Made for some pretty interesting conversations with the yard duty lady, who always thought I was getting beat up and I was always like "No, I'm ok! Don't make them stop...I like this!" Yeah, I was a bit S&M back then I guess.

Well you did promise you would be attending the next festival, yes? Because we'll hold you to it. We're a very fickle bunch when it comes to that.

Yes, j, you will want to toss Amanda's salad she is that freaking cool.

If you're calling me a polesmoker, I can say the same thing about anyone who enjoys watching big strong men go after one another's balls and leap on one another, all while wearing snug pants.
