Sin City, Masked & Anonymous, Diner, Barfly.

I usually wouldn't go see a movie about a wrestler, but Darren Aronofsky directing and Mickey Rourke in the lead?  I'll be there!. Mickey has gotten a Golden Globe nomination and the movie has already won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.

Any time you commit a crime there's fifty things that can go wrong.  If you're a genius, you'll think of twenty-five.  And you're no genius.  Remember who told me that, counselor?

 ...or something like that.

Body Heat.  Small but memorable role.

8 1/2 Days had some enjoyable imagery for a crappy movie.

Diner, of course.

Love the menace and mess that is Mickey Rourke.  You know "they" used to say that one of the cardinal rules of independent films was not to cast either Eric Roberts or Mickey Rourke.  Half of that formula has lost its luster.  And for the likes of me, Eric Roberts is far more preferable than his sister any day.

Hahaha, who knew it lasted that long!

I'm only glad it wasn't 28 Days Later.  Or the Year 1,000,000.  Or that great Fellini film 3 1/2.

Numbers shmumbers.

I think there were better films at the Venice Film festival this year than The Wrestler, but that doesn't stop me believing that this is going to be something you definitely need to see. Note: I've never seen a Darren Aronofsky movie. Still have to find Requiem and watch The Fountain, which by the way I was told it's not so great as the first one mentioned.

Pi was Aronofsky's first film (1997), and the place to start.  In black and white, it centers on a brilliant mathematician attempting to decode the numerical pattern beneath the stock market. In the process, he's pursued by aggressive Wall Street types and a Kaballah sect. An incredible debut film.  I personally loved The Fountain, but I'm a sucker for spiritually-based sci fi explorations of time, love, death, and eternal life!

He allegedly has a very large manhood, too. I saw a shot of him in Celebrity Skin ages ago where the dingle was dangling, and it looked a-ok to me!

My Fave Mickey Movies:

  1. Barfly - for some reason he oozes sexuality in this movie even though he wears shit stained clothes through the whole thing.
  2. Angel Heart - Most underrated performance of the 80's. He should have won an Oscar for this one.
  3. Spun - He was just hilarious in this one.

Can't wait to see The Wrestler.

Rumblefish, Angel Heart, Sin City and The Wrestler (which I just saw last week). I'm so glad he chose to claw his way back from obscurity, the man has awesome talent.

Angel Heart, Sin City (Marv's Da Man!), Rumble Fish, Diner...

Also a so-so remake of The Desperate Hours. Not as good as the Bogart original, but it was decent and Rourke was good in it.

Still haven't gotten around to The Wrestler-I know, I'm lame-dying to see it, though.

All awesome flicks, William!  You gotta see The Wrestler - amazing performance!

Angel Heart and Sin City might be his best work to date though.

It's good to see all the Angel Heart fans in here, one of my fav. movies!

He's used to be such a cute guy, but now has that Axl Rose mummy skin and rubbery lips disorder. Freaks me out.
