i saw milk today and it was pretty good, i recommend it to people who like things like that (biopics that are well-made but clearly oscar bait)

just like to take this oppotunity to say that if you don't support full gay rights you're a bad person and i dislike you, welp bye

booth i know this is going to sound crazy, because i saw elfman's name in the credits and audibly said "aw, fuck" and got shushed, but the score was completely appropriate and non-intrusive.

i'm waiting for the inevitable SNL parody, "Last Chance Harvey Milk"

it was really disturbing because usually you watch a movie like milk (say, for example, malcolm X) and you walk out going "ugh, what a shameful period, at least we're like 75% done fixing that shit." milk was just awful to walk out of in that sense. i still can't believe prop 8 passed. fuck the baby boomers forever for not carrying the fight for equal rights all the way from blacks to women to the LBGT community.

i would confine this kind of thing to the politics section, but it's relevant to how i felt about the movie. i'd apologize to anyone who doesn't want to read about these issues but i don't apologize to hatemongers sooooooooooooooooooo.....................

Did you see the movie with your wife, Nefud?

Transcription of post movie discussion:

You know it makes me mad, and I really hope that the gays get all the rights they deserve, but for now I'm happy that I was able to marry the person I love most... now put on this wig and pretend to be someone else I've got the itch weal baad.

Is that true for the Harold Pinter's dead thread too?
Because that thread went like this for me:
Me: And Harold Pinter got another Nobel prize yesterday.
You: omg what's the connection
Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5hcm-CZkKQ
You: swish
Me: What, was that a reference to something? I don't get it.

ps Ray Dennis Steckler is dead.

I have looked it up in the urban dictionary and swish is indeed the nothing but net sound while woosh is the over your head sound.

Okay, I would like to remind everyone of you that "Milk" was made by Gus Van Sant. I think a director deserves to be mentioned and I hope this movie when it makes it to Italy will appear to me as good as those I liked of him. Yeah, I know he filmed also not so excellent stuff like "Finding Forrester", but still...

My absolute favorites are "Paranoid Park" "Elephant" "To die for" "My own private Idaho" and "Drugstore Cowboy".

Grace Zabriskie is also in the last two I mentioned.

This almost reads like a PSA.

Well it's good to know because knowing that [actor's name] is in a movie is a deciding factor whether a movie is worth watching or not. Doubly so if [actor's name] was in Twin Peaks.

This movie is the Hollywood Agenda Machine's wet dream.

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper

Amanda, let me tell you something. I know I am a sort of discontinuous member of this board, but I've been it for years. I thought you remembered that English is not my first language, so I don't acknowledge the meaning of PSA, sorry. Or maybe you did that on purpose because it's better to make fun of people when they don't understand you're doing such things?

Concerning the fact about knowing an actor is in this or that film's cast surely helps ME get a more resolute decision wether to see that film or not. For example, I hate Will Smith, although I admit he can be a good actor, and I avoid every film he is in. Otherwise, knowing that Laura Dern was in a series that yesterday was awarded at the Globes gives me good feelings it might be something worthwile watching.

yes, the long-held hollywood dream of releasing a movie so unprofitable that it was only showing at two theaters (both of them independant and rinky-dink) in seattle, on of the biggest and most liberal cities in the republic

i'm sure the cum was thick and ropy for that one!
