I just read The Birthday Party after seeing it at the theatre a few months ago. I understand more now that I've read it, but because there's so much contradictory and simply massively vague dialogue it seems impossible to explain it all. But I guess to try and come up with some all-purpose 'explanation' would be missing the point. I think your always gonna get someting out of this kind of thing whatever your level of understanding. As my library has the complete Pinter, which one should be next on my reading list?

And they were directed by Robert Altman. Even more gutting that they're not available anywhere (in the UK at least).
