No, it's not a bed-time story for the kiddies.

But I found this unusually interesting... might just be because my BA is in communications.

I'm actually surprised that he uses the teleprompter so much...

In spite of this, he still uses pregnant pauses and the word uhhh with a hand gesture between every other word.  I believe he is very articulate, I just don't get why he does that.

"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this."  -Dale Cooper

On the flip side, google Bush quotes if you need some chuckles.  He has said some of the dumbest stuff in front of a microphone in recorded history.

uhhh <don't say "clinging to guns and religion"> uhhh <don't say "clinging to guns and religion">

but seriously, he likes to be precise in his wording, which trades-off against off-the-cuff fluency.  Unlike, say, Biden...

I had a teacher who would knock 1 point off your overall speech grade for each "uh" or "uhm" you did. Learned really quickly to not do that! :)

What about "you know"?  Yeah, place keepers (the official term) are annoying. I notice that lots of people use the word "like" about 4 times in every, like, sentence.... (Me no like)  Perhaps he could change it to "om", so people will feel he's meditating over the subject... you know? Ummm... oooommmmm....

oh, that's right - she did knock off points for those too. I always had a problem with uhm so that's what stuck in my head.
