http://www.december212012.com/index.shtml What do you make of these prophecies? Should we be scared and/or prepared?
"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. Like this." -Dale Cooper

Yes of course it's true, both my numerologist and my astrologist told me so.

Whether it's a hoax or not, there are some "interesting" articles to read on that site trying to support the reasoning and several people tell how they are preparing. Kinda creepy.

Polar shift burb In 2012 the next polar reversal will take place on earth. This means that the North Pole will be changed into the South Pole. Scientifically this can only be explained by the fact that the earth will start rotating in the opposite direction, together with a huge disaster of unknown proportions.
The pole shift part is interesting, although of course they've gotten the physics pretty much completely wrong. It has to do with the rotation of the core, the earth doesn't stop rotating the way it has been, and I don't think the core stops rotating either, but I think it is either supposed to flip or something abotu the relative rate of spin in the core vs crust. It's supposed to happen relatively rapidly in geological terms, but it's not like you could say "today north pole, tomorrow south pole". Its actually the transition period that would be the problem, since we would lose our magnetic field that protects us from the solar wind.' [fake edit- I'm not a physicist, so here's the wiki article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geomagnetic_reversal ]
[second fake edit- love the list of celebrity believers- apparently you agree with janine garoffalo on something coolsprings]

I didn't say I agree with it. Yes, I laughed at the list of celebrities too. I have always been fascinated by the apocalypse and the dedication of these people is way out there. Mayan calendars, Egyptian prophecies, Biblical codes, oh my!

This is the best site for this sort of thing

I have heard a lot about it. I have heard some people even say that maybe they were just tired and that is why they stopped at 2012. I am not sure about the exact date but I think we are already in a shift or change. I think we have been in this shift for a while and things are accelerating. I think it is both good and bad times. We will continue to see things crumble and fall apart and people be publically being humilated. We will continue to see things become worse and maybe even to the point that we think humanity is going to destroy itself. It is what the bible talked about the beginning of birth pangs. But on a positive note I think we will see the good in humanity as well. I think we will also see that the things Jesus taught about are true and that we will actually know what He meant. Many of Jesus teachings are very controversial. The teachings of Jesus inspired Gandhi. I think we will see many of the systems we have built fall. The systems in our government, health care, education, business, human rights, churches, etc... But those systems will be replaced by better ones. A new way of thinking, living and a new way of life that makes things better for everyone. It will no matter if you are rich, poor, male or female, black or white, straight or gay, etc... It is arriving to that point. That is the scary things we will see. Because the systems want to live and they will stop at nothing to survive. I sound like a Stephen King book. LOL. I do think we will see more and more talk about angels, demons, aliens, spiritually, time travel, portals, Armageddon etc... The closer we move to that date, the more and more we will hear people talk about those things. So, do I think the world will end on December 21,2012 or that we will enter into some kind of enlightenment? No. I think it will more than likely just be a day like any other day, except for a strong emphasis on spiritual things. Because I think we are already in a time of shifting where the world will become very scary for some and uplifting for others. I also think we are already in another World War. America is not calling it that though. Those are just my thoughts on it.

Dec. 21 2012 is the reset button of the universe. Better buy some real estate under the sea, 'cause that's where we'll be living.

The first I heard of Dec. 21, 2012 was in the early 90's, when I was introduced to Terence McKenna, a philosopher, ethnobiologist, and magic mushroom pioneer (who some say was the inspiration for Dr. Jacoby). I would listen to tapes of his lectures for hours. In the mid 70's, he developed a theory called Time Wave:Zero Point. When he was in the Amazon experimenting with plants loaded with DMT, he had experiences that made him examine the King Wen sequence of the I-Ching. (Hang with me, I'm going somewhere). All this trippiness led to his graphing the ebb and flow of "novelty" over time, a specific waveform on which the events of history can be easily seen. Oddly enough, the waveform hits an asymptote on exactly Dec. 21, 2012. Which has been pointed out is the end of the Mayan calendar as well. A friend at work who loves to keep me informed on all things 2012 said he saw, on one of those "science" channels, images scientists are taking at the poles which show evidence of changes already happening. I don't know. It's going to happen sometime, but if you already live each day as if it were your last, you're covered.

Darn, I wish I could remember the exact title of this book I have/had on the end of the world. I've loaned it out so many times and I think it is currently on loan and gathering beaucoup bucks of late fees. The book tracks the times throughout history when large numbers of humanoids decided the End is Near. They found 'signs' and 'patterns' to back it all up. Silly stuff but a fun pastime in books or cinema.
I think a good counterpart to this line of 'thinking' can be found in the book "The Black Swan" that speculates about the consequences of thinking you know what's next and the unpredictability factor of those Really Big Cataclysmic Changes that just sorta sneak up on you unawares while you're doing an numerology chart on the return of Quetzalcoatl or something.

The world can't end on 12/21/12 as it already ended on 05/05/00. What you have mistaken for reality for the last nineish years has actually been Gaia pulling a Jacob's Ladder .

I would like to make a bet with anyone on this 12/21/2012 catastrophy. I bet that it does not occur. We will place our bet money in an account set up to pay the winner. I suggest a $10,000 bet. Who wants to take the other side -that the catastrophy does occur ?
