And she's been held captive by the Taliban for a couple of months. Watch her plead for her embassy to help and for SOMEBODY to pony up two-million bucks. See if the words Useful Idiot do not come to mind even while empathizing with her obvious dire plight. This second video is more recent.

Actually the Taliban has kept some deals e.g. the south koreans and another group. But I would argue that it is good 'business' from the group. It makes their kidnapping and beheading threats more rewarding in terms of getting ransom money. That is your point, right ? At first reading it sounded like general praise for the Taliban, which was not your intent ?

lord no, they are murderous assholes. i was just trying to figure out the best way to help this woman, and i was trying to figure out if they would let her go, even if they were paid off. surprised to hear that they've been known to keep deals like that, frankly. i'd almost hesitate to make a deal like that though, who knows what kind of harm they'd inflict with a lot of money.

i don't know why it got under my skin so much but one of the worst things about the videos is how they forced her to dress. they didn't even let her keep her own clothes. fanatical down to the detail, even in regards to someone they have no respect for.

She's an Islam convert or "revert" as they would put it. Those were likely her traveling gear. She had a website called Jihad Unspun that put a pleasant spin on the true meaning of the word.
Wikipedia on her website.
