My friend took me to the gun shop this AM. I got my 'Handgun Safety Certificate" study guide and will test shortly !

My friend has ten acres surrounded by vineyards -so that is a good place. His 19 yo daughter has a shotgun and is soon to get a .357.

I remember copies of The American Rifleman from childhood. I also used to like " Guns and Ammo". I wonder if that is still around ?

Ist and 2nd amendments 12 !!!

Mmmm, my favorite price: FREE!!! But somehow I'll avoid the temptation (& obvious "magazine" pun). Enjoy your firearms fetish. I'll be over---------- here instead.

Nothing erotic about my interest in self-defense.

It makes me sad that people are frightened of freedom. It's a sorry state when a chunk of the population believed self-defense is somehow abnormal.

It makes me happy to know that the good guys who would protect one another are armed, and not just crackheads and thugs.

If an armed robber was about to rape your daughter, OSF, and you were there to stop it, wouldn't you shoot him?

Yeah, I hate how gun owners get lumped in with the bible-thumping crackers.

I don't expect someone who probably hasn't ever been a victim of violence to understand. (James Brady is an exception, he's paralyzed and is pretty much fucked no matter what.) Odds are you probably won't ever need a gun out in the world, but why test those odds?

Even the Dalai Lama knows that a person's right to swing their fist stops right before it meets someone else's face.

Well, in 1980, while driving a cab, I was robbed & had my throat slashed & lung punctured, & no, I STILL don't want to own a gun. I just find owning a deadly weapon, no matter how much you insist it's for self defense scary & generally icky.  I'm not questioning your right or freedom to own a gun, but when you have magazines & national organizations, etc. it has reached fetish status.  And fetish refers to a powerful obsession, it's not necessarily sexual.  (And no matter how hard you "thump" a bible, it won't kill or maim anyone)

yeah i'd also never turn a loaded gun on another human being but it's nice to know it's there if i'm suddenly 80 and unable to shit anymore and need to blow my brains out. or go shoot some cans out in the woods.  or whatever.

Is aging 5 decades overnight a widespread problem where you live?
