That's the word I heard this morning upon awakening. So let me be the first to say that I think this is a veddy bad idea. A billion and a half annually in addition to the $ already going to Pakistan. From what I understood Obama to say as I was just becoming conscious, this is an incentive for the Pakistanis to put the crunch on Al Qaeda types in and around their parts. Knowing how seriously they treated AQ Khan, who spread the formula for what he referred to as the "Islamic Bomb" as far as North Korea, I'm not comforted by their terror-fighting strategy. This one is going to resonate for many years. I'm guessing in a most unfavorable way.
Oh. And he's sending more troops to Afghanistan. I think it's something like a... how you say?... "surge." Susan Here's an article on the surge and the aid from the WSJ.

With the questionable bona fides of the Pakistani intelligence agency and the evidence of their collusion with the Taliban this Billion plus bonus program does raise questions and risk. And yes who can forget the proliferation of nuke bomb tech from national hero Dr. Kahn. If only the Pakistani government was more stable, I'd say OK. A radical take over of Pakistan would be ultra dangerous. If that money does work, stabilize the current Pakistan government -with all it's warts, it would be well worth it. IMO So, I just don't know. I hope the current Afganistan/Pakistan approach works.

Pervez Musharraf will be in my area the first week in October. He had " The most dangerous job in the world" per Time magazine. I'd like to ask him some questions, really have lunch with the dude. Now, you have to buy a season speakers series ticket for over $400. I don't want to hear him that bad, but hopefully someone will have the ticket for that night for sale on Craigslist. Wish me luck. By the way Morgenthaw(sp) the NY DA since forever and a great man-they don't make em like him anymore- soon to retire has busted a plan to have a Chineese company export nuke material to Iran. Thanks alot to our big creditor China. Jeez. Could the Chineese government have been unaware?
