I think "The Cell" is a really underrated litle movie, very cool and weird. Totally different from Lynch's brand of cool and weird, but I can see the comparison.

Or just chalk it up to the obvious references to Twin Peaks: the blonde dead girl found wrapped up in scotch tape and plastic and the cops peel it back to reveal her face; the killer singing "Mairzy Dotes". Also, people entering one another's dream worlds in a dark kind of labyrinth.

I just noticed the black dog shaking itself dry next to the bathtub full of blood in slow-mo that seemed like the most stylistic nod, if there are any in that film.

Would like to hear the reasoning behind this.

Oh. There are dogs slipped into every DL movie that have no place in the plot at all. Just a visual or a reference to. (David Lynch Decoded uses this to support its thesis.)

There are dogs in Tarkovsky's work too, like Nostalghia, which is where the reused room from Losing my Religion is from.

There you go. Lynch doesn't deserve his own adjective. Nothing new under the sun.

I just wanted to know if there was anything that connected Lynch to the scene with the dog, other that it being a shot with a dog.

The stylized incorporation of a dog, seemingly as a bad omen.
