I've recently been getting more and more into him. As my hatred of Phil Collins grows, my respect for Gabriel grows...He does crackin soundtrack work, So is an album that is wonderfully indicative of the 80s, 4 has epic tracks such as Wallflower, and gotta love that Another Day(Roy Harper) cover with Kate Bush...any Gabe love on the board? Was Genesis never the same after he departed? Or does nobody care?

FWIW, I like Peter Gabriel. I think he's hugely underrated and all people ever remember of him is that he did "Sledgehammer." Poor guy. He's done a couple of great tunes with various artists, including Kate Bush and the Afro Celts that are worth giving a listen to.

I don't know why, but this made me laugh out really loud at work.

The mystery of the cycle of eternal recurrence of flatulence humor in the male of our species.  Well possibly females as well but I've only observed it males.

I've liked a fair amount of PGs work over the years but I don't know if I'd call myself a fan.

well it's specifically the combo of farting and the silly "actions go in asterisks" style of internet forum posting.

YES YES YES!!  I especially love the 4th solo album he released, with Rhythm of the Heat and Shock the Monkey. His soundtracks are incredible--both to Last Temptation and an Australian movie, Rabbit-Proof Fence. I love how he embraced World Music--not only in his own work, but I believe he started a studio and record label to distribute music from artists all over the world.  Not only is Gabriel's music fantastic, but he seems to be a man who has championed humanitarian causes, peace projects, organizations to put a spotlight on human rights abuses.  I read that he has even had keyboard jam sessions with apes!  Love Peter Gabriel!
