As some of you perspicacious folk my have figured out by now I am constitutionally (No, not The Constitution, my constitution) required to attempt to balance any equation I come across.

So

To go along with the 'What are you afraid of?' thread we have this, if you choose to play.

'Come on pretty baby take a walk with me now and tell me who/what/where do you love?' (Bd from B. Diddly)

My mom.  She really is a great mom, she let me be who I am pretty much my whole life, kept me alive and reasonably intact, and I turned out fairly happy.

Lichen.  Lichen is just about the coolest stuff on the face of this planet.

The Olympic Peninsula.  I can leave Seattle, get on a ferry and be 'away from it all' in just a few hours.  The air is clean the trees are big (those that are left) and there are generally not that many people.

"It's not so bad as long as you can keep the fear from your mind." - D. Cooper

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind killer." - P. Atreides

"Whoever can see through all fear will always be safe" - L. tzu

The trees, the sky, wide open spaces.  I guess there are advantages to city life, but I like the fact that I can take a ten minute bike ride and be in the great wide open.

Summertime and all that it entails.  Beer and barbeque, swimming at the lake, going camping, long days.

Good books and used book stores.

Japanese food.

My family.  Without which I would not be what I am.  Whatever the hell that is.

Lots of stuff...

First of all my family - my brother, my sister, my father and mother, my sister-in-law...
All my obsessions (books, movies, shows)

The sun, the woods, my laptop, London, bicycle rides in the evening during spring/summer, twilight, dawn, strawberries, writing fiction, the sea, taking off during a flight, circus, the smell of rain on the asphalt during summer, christmas carols, sushi, driving when it's dark both inside and outside of the car...

Well, I could go on and on and on...

Obviously my family. All 4 of my siblings, mom and dad, all 4 grandparents, the plethera of cousins, aunts and uncles. I'm not gonna lie, they drive me nuts, but I would do anything for all of them.

Reading, I am constantly reading.

The gym. Being unemployed, it has given me something to look forward to instead of sitting in the house and doing nothing. It also has helped me relieve a lot of anxiety I have had over the past few months.

My friends, I have a small close knit circle of friends and they all have been there for me and I wouldn't know what to do without them.

Even though I have crappy allergies, I love the seasons, the sun, trees, grass, wind, rain, everything about living in the midwest. I have thought about moving to the southwest where my allergies would subside, but I would miss the seasons and the green. I will take the meds to help me bare it! :)

Music. This is an outlet that has always been there. I don't play anymore, but whatever mood I am in, I can find some piece of music to fit that mood. If I am sad, music can make me happy. I would go crazy without music.

My Family.  I am very blessed to have a very close, loving family.  My brother is still my best friend, and my sister and I are extremly close as well.  I have two wonderful parents, who have been married for over 40 years.  My nieces and nephews - constsantly make me smile.

My Friends.  I also feel blessed to be surrounded by a wonderful group of friends who I trust and care deeply for.  Over the years, I've had a lot of fair weather friends.  So, now I can say that the friends I have now, are my true friends.

Music.  I have always loved all kinds of music.  Anything from Slayer to Sinatra.  Metal may always be my true love, but I love all music almost as much.  I don't think I could be confined to one genre- there is too much good stuff out there.  Punk, rap, rock, alternative, country, jazz, etc.  There are 2 rules when it comes to music: 1. If it sounds good, it is good.  2. There are no other rules.

Movies.  Lynch, Scorsese, Tarantino, Kubrick, Coppola.  Suspense, horror, comedy.  Marx Brothers- fell in love with them and their comedy when I was young, and still are the basis for my offbeat sense of humor.

Changing seasons, the sunlight, the darkness, animals, dogs, the smell of freshly cut grass, the smell of rain, thunderstorms, pizza, cheeseburgers, tacos, coffee, ice cream, my cd, dvd, book, and baseball card collections, sourpatch kids, metal, punk, all things 80's, Twin Peaks, and so on and so on.  Most of all: my sobriety, which makes me love these things even more! (5 yrs in Sept!)

Ben:  "We've laid in a gala reception for your fair-haired boys tonight.  All of Twin Peaks' best and brightest."

Jerry: "We're holding it in a phone booth?"

There's a lot of love for family here. I count myself fortunate that I get along so well with my mine. :D I know so many people that don't.

Standing in the surf enjoying the sunset, The clarity of the air above 8000 feet, the way snow clings to pine trees, knowing when I press the button that I've made a compelling picture.

My Parental units for passing on worthwhile dna and patterns of good behavior.

My son who is like a new improved model of me!

Watching the single digit (years not fingers) kids play so well together, helping each other and caring for their mates. These kids make me optimistic that this ripening generation will make the future better. Isolated anecdotal input i know , but it sure looks promising.

The Big Pharma drug companies ( a strange one? )that have produced remedies that have me and family and friends alive and healthy today...uh ..and not dead. You could start with Dr. Jonas Salk , wait let's go back to penicillin and then forward thru the years. Many 'miracle' strides.

The Armed Forces who have kept my ass safe with their selfless valour.

Aw bless him!  I love my bunny rabbits first and foremost too.  They're my best friends and have put up with me nattering away to them in what must be a hell of an annoying cutesy voice for years now.  Basil in particular has this amused look every time I speak to him, like he's thinking "Well, what's the gossip today then?" he even oinks, perks up his ears to listen to me and crosses his paws, adorable!

I'm also not close to some members of my family, but to others I am, which is weird cos we are very small family. (Probably cos my father had no siblings).  I guess I do love them though, I think most ppl do love their families, but I kind of don't like to see them unless I have to.  I DID love my late Grandad very much though, he lived to be 84, and died when I was 25, a proud member of the Salvation Army (when he was younger he played the cornet).  :)  I also love my cousins nan, who we all call "nana", she is the closest thing I have to one since all 4 of my grandparents have passed.  Just last month she celebrated her centenary!  100 years and a telegram from The Queen, she was overjoyed, even though she was in hospital having a blood transfusion, she never complained once and was just happy to see people and get so many cards. I always treat her with the utmost respect, because I think you have to really have a lot of favour with the Gods and be doing something right to live that long!  I once asked what her secrert was to keeping young and she smiled and said, "keep yourself busy and drink hot water with lemon juice and a spoonful of honey everyday!" :)

I also love my new man, Anthony, even though we seem to come from very different cutures, we've lasted 3 months now and keep on getting stronger.  I love him even though he's a more religious man than I'm used to! (Catholic!) and he even convinced me to go to church with him once or twice, which I only did for him, but I quite enjoyed it, as a (pagan) friend once said to me, "you'll notice some of the similarities between pagan rituals and catholic services" which I did - lighting the white candles, ringing the bells, etc.  We've even talked about marraige and children, even though I did warn him I might not be able to have a healthy child.
He also said if we do get married it is tradition for him to give me a goat!! (He's Nigerian and I met him at Uni - well we share the same flat).  I was like "wtf will I use a goat for?!" he wants me to eat it, but no way, it would have to be a pet goat lol.

AND I love all my close friends, protecting and respecting animals (yep, I've gone vegetarian again - a
HARD transition from meat-eating, but I love animals so much especially the little lambs I just couldn't justify that anymore!)  I am thinking about making the final switch from vegetarian to vegan, but at the moment it's hard just maintaining veggie, I need the eggs and cheese, however I HAVE given up milk and got a milk alternative drink alpro soya which tastes great and use that instead, so I'm getting there. :)

Oh, I love all animals and good movies, popcorn, Doctor Pepper Zero, Cherry Coke, Angels, Fairies, ArchAngels (been reading a ton of books about these lately and yes I know some ppl regard the likes of Doreen Virtue and Diana Cooper as "fluffy bunny types" but tough, I like them and they strike a chord with me.  (I've often had Angels dreams and visions (when I was feeling low in hospital and unwell, worrying about my study, I saw this huge ball of golden light kind of drift in my room, to the bottom of my bed then swirled around me and left.  I've never seen anything like that before or since so that's why I think it was an Angel. (And no it wasn't the sun - it happened on a nightime when I couldn't sleepp and it was dark.  I love the way your Angels and Spirit guides help you if you just trust them enough and SINGING, and READING lots.  Also love being an academic and studying, it's so great to finally be working towards something good in my life!  Ok that gone with the wind epic post is enough

Oh!  And Twin Peaks and good music, campaigning for worthwhile causes such as the RSPCA and PETA.

"watch out for my cousin.."
