i've been hitting the gym/bike really hard for the last 2+ weeks or so (as opposed to my hilarious weekly gym visits prior). i think if i ever do get into the shape i want, a tattoo will be the reward.

I fully intend to get a tattoo as soon as I can decide on the design. That's just the kind of body-disrespecting attention whore that I am.

I see as many people bragging that they don't have ink these days (case in point,)

And your parents are right: if you get them while you're young, you will regret them later.

I have to justify my tats like scars these days. They are accidents that have a story with them.

I'm thinking of getting an Ann Coulter tat on my right butt cheek.

QUOTE: the only girls I know who get tattoos are strippers or the kind that will hook up with random dudes in a bar every Friday night.  I don't know what that means though.

You forgot Harley bitches. *cue American Woman*

Yep, this is definitely the climate of the moment. There has been a societal fallout concerning women and tattoos. 1-4 women 18-30 are inked. Look at the FHM and Maxim Top lists, most of them have ink.

Symbols of sex/youth/rebellion look ridiculous on sexless professionals and old people. No one wants to see Grandma in a VS pushup bra and thong, yet it might be sexy to see a hidden tat or "whale tail" accidentally revealed on the librarian as she reaches for a book.

Of course, it's a completely different story for guys, who can still be 30+, with or without tats, and going out to pick-up bars with no one passing judgment. ;)

p.s. Did you know Hooters girls aren't allowed to have tattoos? I guess it's to go with the white ankles socks and high school track uniform, symbols of virginal purity.

I got my tattoos young, but I am pleased with them.  They are on my torso so most people don't see them.  I did make a conscious decision to make them easily hidden and have minimal sun exposure.  They were also drawn for me.  I only wish I could have finished my backpiece.  It is an important decision and I think it deserves alot of forethought.

It's been about 10 years since I've been tattooed and sometimes I think about getting another one but I'm not sure where I'd put it.

I have 6 tats and don't regret any of them. I want more. They are on my arms and back so I don't have to explain too much. If I ever decide to take the bar and practice law, I won't have to do too much to cover them up for court, which is a good thing and a reason why I haven't gotten one on the lower arm, lower leg, foot or ankle.

Those girls who have their entire chests, or backs, done in brilliant colors really amaze me. Particularly when its a mild-mannered, well-spoken girl. Makes you think she has secrets. It's really brave to commit to something that visible and permanent.

A friend of mine had a bright green dragon over her chest with one wing outstretched and the tip of the tail climbing up her clavicle that I loved to look at.

There was this girl in my journalism class with this gorgeous orange, black and white piece that was the front of her bicep extended over her shoulder blade. Really mesmerizing. She was Japanese, and it was something cultural.

Tat artists always say for your first one, go BIG. Tribal armbands and clip art are tacky.

Kids love to look at tattoos. I've had stranger's children run up to me and touch the one on my hand/wrist. Come to think of it, if my grandma had a big, bitchin tat I'd have loved it.

the first girl i had sex with had a poorly-done (as in, by an ex-con friend of her mom's, at home) tattoo of elmo on her back. she could never figure out why i really wanted to go at it doggie style. at least animal is based on keith moon, that's pretty tight.

*becomes hypnotized by poorly rendered elmo's eyes*
"You like that elmo? Does that tickle?"
