DVD releases of Andrzej Zulawski's movies are a bit like those jokes about PCs, 10 minutes after they're released they are out of date, or in Zulawski's case, out of print.

A couple of days ago I found out that a company called Mondo Vision were releasing another one of his movies so I went to check out their website and lo and behold, they seem to have the rights to most of his interesting work, and by interesting I mean the things I'm interested in seeing.

The only real problem is that since this is a niche company and they seem to be going all out on the DVDs, the prices get a bit high (both movies are $26.99 on Amazon).

This thread was about as popular as I expected.
Here's a clip of the beginning of Diabel and if you can watch this and not say "I want to watch that movie" then your taste is obviously different than mine.

It's pretty loud so be ready with your volume controls.

Diabel also features a red curtained room with a Venus de Medici statue.

Since you're a Brit you can also check out his first movie, The Third Part of the Night.

Has it only been released over here exclusively or something?

To be honest, i'm pretty much a newcomer to Zulawski; that clip you linked being the first thing i've actually seen by him. Prowling around IMDB, i'm liking what i'm reading. I'll definitly be checking a couple of films out for sure.

No but it was released by the UK based company Second Run. So there are no import charges involved, and you might even be able to find it to rent.

And those Polart DVDs (Silver Globe, Devil) are apparently shitty (not just the coverart).

L'Amour Braque has a release date (October 15), and Szamanka has been announced as the movie they're releasing after that. Would have preferred to see one of his Polish movies released next, but if they can keep up this pace, they'll arrive soon enough.

Edit: I phrased that a bit strangely since Szamanka is a Polish movie. I meant his early movies made in Poland.
