This. Is. Disgusting. Any Scots who can tell us more about the man who arbitrarily invoked compassion to free this mass murderer? I would think this would be an embarrassment to the entire country. Al Jazeera says he's going home to a Hero's Welcome.

. FEH! Oh, yeah, this was an excellent candidate for a compassion release. The way I see it if you can walk up all those steps to a jetliner, you aren't close enough to death to qualify for "near death." Susan
Gaddafi embraces Lockerbie bomber and thanks his 'courageous friend' Gordon Brown for releasing him. By James Chapman and Ian Drury Last updated at 2:52 PM on 22nd August 2009
The international furore over the release of the Lockerbie bomber deepened today after he was seen embracing Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi. In scenes that will provoke outrage among victims' families and the U.S. government, TV footage showed Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi meeting Gaddafi in Tripoli.
It came as Gordon Brown faced fresh pressure after shocking claims by Libya that the release of the bomber was linked explicity to trade deals benefiting Britain.
Embrace: Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, (right), who was found guilty of the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, is greeted by Libyan leader Gaddafi in Tripoli

This shit makes me ashamed of my Scottish heritage. Why let this man die with his family when the innocent people he blew out of the sky didn't get to die with theirs?

Why be ashamed? The actions of some fucking baboons have nothing to do with the good things you've done in your life. If i was ashamed of everything a Brit had done wrong i'd have hung myself by now.

Sounds to me, MayRay, you don't have to feel fully ashamed since it actually sounds like Gordon Brown may have been involved. I'm sure we'll know more in the next day or two as pressure mounts.

You don't have to go to Scotland or England to placate terrorists. Obama's Attorney General is out to get CIA operatives for saying "bad" things and blowing cigar smoke at captured terrorists. I'm sure the CIA will rightly be scared to defend this country from attacks. And as Reverend what's his name says " Chickens will come home....to roost."

I guess we will never know if he was the one or not. The fact is now he is released and that is that, there is nothing can be done. He will die in Libya. He dropped his appeal and was released. End of. Now who was involved is another matter. The First Minister of the Scottish Government, when it all kicked off, seemed to swing about a little as to his involvement, but now appears to fully back the Justice Minister, Kenny MacAskill Now the UK Governement has been named, with the PM in particular getting some flak.....Where will it end, who knows.... here is the latest from the Beeb http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/8230722.stm
