Changing subjects from Chicagoland in DC to Chicagoland in...well....Chicago....

Blagojevich adviser who was to be a prosecutor key witness in the case is found dead....aspirin overdose .

Hmmmmm.....????

In the worst Bogart voice you can imagine, "Now you see, you're gonna take these apsirins, you see here. And you're gonna swallow them you see. And then you're gonna call your girlfriend. And tell her you're killing yourself, you see. Because we can't get away with cement boots right now and throw you in the lake. Now, don't argue you with me you dirty rat. You know what we do with dirty rats, you know? We make them eat a bottle of aspirin, you see."

Aspirin is truly lethal, Jordan, but death can come in a most unpleasant way.  The worst part of an aspirin overdose is surviving near death.  Liver damage.  Emergency rooms tales abound of those who attempted suicide but were rushed to a hospital only to live a short life afterward with the resulting damage done.

Many years ago when Josh was a toddler, David had tonsilitis and had been taking "two aspirin every four hours."  He did that for maybe a week.  At the end of a week, I was scheduled to have some minor surgery.  David was too weak to drive me to the hospital so I drove while he rested in the back seat.  When we got to admitting he was nearly conked out.  I thought it was just nerves for his wife's upcoming surgery.  A nurse noticed him looking weak and escorted him over to emergency.  He was bleeding internally and had lost 3 pints of blood.  The aspirin had eaten a hole in his stomach.  If he hadn't been going with me to the hospital that day, I know he would not have done anything about it.  He would have just thought he was under the weather and waited it out at home.  And he could have died.

Freaky stuff that aspirin!

aFter reading the article the other night, i checked to see if you could really OD on aspirin, and saw you could. But using aspirin to commit suicide? That doesn't seem like the best approach, IMO.

Yeah, but it's easy to obtain and may just have been in the household.

There's also Drano, rat poison or nail polish remover I guess...
