What is your favorite Christmas movie and why? I am going with Home Alone. It brings back great memories. I also like Nester The Long Eared Donkey and Bad Santa.

White Christmas, hands down. Bing Crosby tap-dancing with Danny fucking Kaye. It doesn't get any better than that. Holiday Inn, A Christmas Story, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and the original A Christmas Carol all tie for second place. And as a horrible guilty pleasure, I do enjoy watching A Boyfriend For Christmas which is total Hallmark Channel over-acting dreck featuring the ever-untalented Patrick Muldoon, but it's fun to watch and sometimes make fun of.

Hellraiser III, Hell On Earth
A co-worker at Hollywood Video and I used to refer to that as "the Christmas Hellraiser" and that was the excuse to play it on the store TV's. Boy, did that make some parents mad!
No. 2 would be Edward Scissorhands (I am really surprised that didn't make Amanda's list!)

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid were hilarious in there! Second choice: Elf
Ben: "We've laid in a gala reception for your fair-haired boys tonight. All of Twin Peaks' best and brightest." Jerry: "We're holding it in a phone booth?"

My cousin says that Die Hard is his favorite Christmas movie and that is one that people usually don't think about. I also like Fred Claus.

Wow... this thread is a tad tardy, but... can't believe no one's mentioned the perfect film: It's A Wondeful Life (which I hadn't even heard of until I watched it in a film class in the late '70s. It, along with Wizard of Oz was virtually overlooked upon it's release). Also love Some Girls, an undiscovered gem starring a young Patrick Dempsey & Jennifer Connelly. For dark TV specials try It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, & League of Gentlemen. Oh & Pee-wee...
