This movie has received really bad reviews, but I enjoyed it.  I liked the changes in the storyline.  It didn't scare me but I was just a kid when I saw the first one and after so many Nightmare movies, Freddy just isn't as scary anymore.  I am sure that this movie will scare kids though.  I enjoyed this one, but I liked the original more.

KICK ASS -  I really liked Kick Ass.  It was better than I thought it would be.

Yea to Kick Ass, nay to Nightmare. Didn't care for the changes, it just seemed to take forever to get anywhere. Thought Connie Britton & Clancy Brown were wasted.  The new Nancy & Freddy were no shine on Langenkamp & Englund... a friend of mine was campaigning for the role of Freddy himself. Wonder what that one would've been like.  Trivia note: Nightmare 3 was Patricia Arquette's first film, with a Badalamenti score.

Did the filmmakers have any particular reason for not keeping Englund as Freddy?? He didn't want to be on it or what? Because if I have one reason NOT to see it is simply that there's no Englund...

Saw Nightmare on Elm Street today. I didn't find it bad, but I didn't find it great. I'm still sorta digesting it. It was very difficult to NOT see Englund in that role but I do think Haley still did a fine job. His makeup was great. Personally, I just think Englund would've been too old to do the role. Plus if you're trying to re-ignite the franchise, you really need to get someone a bit younger who can do several sequels.

Jordan .

Consider this: Nightmare was Johnny Depp's first film. He got shreddy via Freddy & scant years later he's back starring in a movie about a guy with knives (okay, scissors) for hands...

They've ressurrected this series lol...Kruger became a parody from Sequel 2 onwards.  That aside, anyone know why they used the site of the JFK 'hit' (Dealey Plaza/Bloody Elm St)....for the name of the series....Freddy Kruger is the FK without the J?

I would say that I've always loved the end of the original movie...when the Mom gets pulled through an impossibly small window on the front door...that always makes me howl with laughter!!!

Watch the new one (or NOT) then quickly revisit the original to see how it's really done! I personally prefer # 3, but that's just me, I guess. Elm St. is just so Anytown, U.S.A. & Wes went to Elm St. Elementary. There's a hugely long double disc doc (Never Sleep Again) for true enthusiasts. Avoid the new one....

I am just hoping that this doesn't mean the plans for Freddy Vs. Jason sequels are cancelled.

But that might have more to do with my undying love for Monica Keena.
