What's with you?

Children taking time off their valuable school day -- children as young as fourteen -- taking to the streets in order to protest the planned change in retirement age benefits setting in at age 62 (wow, that's old!) instead of the current 60.  And I wonder to myself, self, who at age fourteen really contemplates a future career as one where the State would pay for your remaining 20, 25, 30, 35 years of life? Which fourteen year-olds are so preternaturally concerned with his/her own ability to care for his/herself as a future adult?  And how does burning a few cars in protest over the mean, unfair nanny state have much real meaning to a fourteen year-old???  I just don't get the mindset and the level of violence in France over the issue of 60 versus 62.  Isn't 60 the new 40 anyhow?

Still young at heart, eh? ;)

Edit: As for 'seriousness', your preferred media outlet impresses.

A one suave double post.

Anyway, who'd expected different from the French? They're French, they're special, important, etc. Not unlike the Greatest Nation on Earth. Founded on genocide, slavery, and favored by Gawd.

So you'd rather spend your tax dollars on the military. Go(o)d for you!

...while the British, on the other hand, are implementing a new strategy:  Austerity over stimulus for an economic fix.

Sounds like a good plan to me but in the global economy we are so interlocked.  How/when these tough times pass, I surely don't know but I think the British plan sounds sensible. Gonna be a loooong haul, I fear.
