my apologies if this has been answered somewhere on the board. my attempts to search previous posts for this turn up results scewed by someone's use of the quote in their signature!

does anyone know the type of gum that is referred to here?  what is the gum that leland likes that is going to come back in style?  is it the same gum agent cooper samples in the roadhouse, and if so, was anyone able to identify it?

this has been driving me absolutely nuts!!!

I don't think that the gum was ever given a name. To me it is the code word used when BOB is about to exit a host. The Giant says it to Leland shortly before BOB leaves him and my theory is that this is what the MFAP tells Cooper when he dies and will become free from BOB.

Interestingly, read the Log Lady intro for episode 8 and she's discussing pitch gum and how a certain type is good and not another. I link this sometimes to what happens to Dale's coffee in the finale. It shows that he will be good and then it shows how he will ultimately become weak.
