Here's some Israeli haters burning the Blue & White.

i

Yeah, it's a typical scene. Young men with shemagh scarves out on the streets in joyous camaraderie burning an Israeli flag. Only this scene is not from the Arab street but rather from Milano, Italy!

Damn, this makes me sick.  As did the Universal website.

Great big giant sigh...

Wow, guys, I didn't even realize this was a movie until I saw the post!  That Universal site is having major problems.  Seems to me like a bunch of sicko people made that movie.  A lot of the people in the website said "take it down!"  I agree.

Annie - every single family who was affected by Flight 93 signed off on that movie. Many of them were at the premier this week in fact.

It wasn't put together by a bunch of sick-o's.

I don't have a problem with NYT's entertainment section - just their hard news :)

Critics are giving it high marks - http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809273193/critic

I would be seeing the film tonight if not reconnecting with a faraway relative.

Beyond the film itself, I have a curiosity factor about any protesters, like those who showed up at the Triibeca Film Festival, who are demanding the "TRUTH" about Flight 93. Their version of the so-called TRUTH can range between the flight having been shot down by the USAF or the 4 Arab hijackers being alive and well. My favorite of the TRUTH exposes, is the claim by an Arabic translator, who read the transcripts of the cockpit recordings and insisted that no Muslim would repeat these words at the culmination of a suicide attack:

ALLAHU AKBAR ALLAHU AKBAR ALLAHU AKBAR

...and that is proof that no Arab Muslims hijacked Flight 93 on September 11, 2001.

It's difficult to imagine that anyone could make such a ludicrous statement at this stage in history, but there it was -- being hawked on a 9/11 TRUTH site!

We are to believe that no Muslim terrorist would shout...

ALLAHU AKBAR ALLAHU AKBAR ALLAHU AKBAR

...while being videotaped hacking off the head of a living being (albeit, an infidel) or perhaps from their lair while setting off an IED under a US military convoy. Absurd! That would never happen.

What to believe? The Arabic translator's version or our lying ears?

Not inclined to go to the cinema on a Saturday so we may not catch the film before the end of next week. Should the theater have Conspiracy Theorists distributing their inane literature in the lobby, well, I may become uncustomarily testy. Maybe I shouldn't be riled.  After all, they would only be posing questions...

The whole idea of Hollywood recreating this tragedy irks me. I know all the families approved and it's gotten good reviews, but I'm with the "it's too soon" crowd. Tell the story through a good documentary on A&E if you must, but keep it out of the theaters. You know a full 9/11 movie is next, with people paying $9 each to watch some actor jump out of the towers to their "death".

People know what happened already. The only positive thing I can see coming out of this is that maybe people will be reminded of the suffering and get back some of the anger that's been slowly leaking away over the last 5 years.

We went to see this movie this weekend and it was a very solemn experience.

Jem, first and foremost, welcome back. I was wondering where you went off to.

Secondly, it did bring back that anger that you talked about.  I wanted to reach up to that screen, and pull those characters off the screen. I cried at the end, like everyone in our theatre did, but the majority of my emotions was pure anger and disbelief.

I will have to say, and maybe I'm the only one, but it really made our control tower people and our military look very incompetant and it made me feel that if they would have gotten off their flat feet and actually got going quicker, maybe they could have done something a little sooner. It wouldn't have saved those poor people on those planes, but it sure as hell could have stopped that second plane hitting the tower or the plane that hit the pentagon.

I personally do not think that this movie is too soon. I truely think some people have already forgotten about it or if they haven't, they sure don't want to be reminded. Frankly, I think we all need to be reminded about this day from time to time and not just shrug it off like it was all a bad dream and never happened.

I totally agree that people need to be reminded, and this film will accomplish that. I'm just generally suspicious of Hollywood molding facts to fit their agendas. I will see the movie when it comes out on DVD, but I'm not looking forward to it. I assume the emotional output will be high.

Totally off-topic, thanks for the welcome back. I got a new job after I got married last year that left me little time to wander the Internet. Jordan and Kelly, congratulations on the exciting new addition!

Jem - if it helps, I didn't find anything in the film that I didn't feel was "wrong" or not factual, or even had any agenda.

Now, Stone's 9/11 film - I have plenty of doubts there!
