The final episode by far.  After that, 25 and 27 are personal favorites; then I round out the list with 2, 7, 8, 9, 14 and 16.

The Pilot. I love beginnings and what a beginning this was. The town was on fire with the news of Laura Palmer's death and it was captivating and magical watching the shock waves engulf the whole community. So much tension and feeling builds up in that episode, some of which is released in the fight scene at the Roadhouse.

After that Episode 14. Simply amazing - and the final scenes in the Roadhouse were just otherworldly and extremely emotional. Nobody knows about Maddy's death but certain of the characters (Cooper, Donna and Bobby) most definitely sense it.

For me it has to be episode 14. Mesmerizing so many levels. I absolutely adore that episode. Episode 16 is also very wonderful.

I think that EP 14 is the greatest episodes in any series I´ve ever seen. And I´ve seen a lot in the last years. I had to decide between this episode and episode 29. Both are great but Ep 14 is just such a good dramatic pay-off to the LP-case that I had to choose it.

I wish I could´ve seen EP 14 directly when it aired on TV. I still can´t believe that this was on TV and it´s already been 20 years that this was on! Even by todays standard where you see dead people all the time on CSI or other crime shows, it still holds up because this episode shows Maddys death in a very disturbing and not "entertaining" way. You get the full impact of why BOB is the most evil being of all time. He feeds himself on her pain and enjoys the hell out of it. Just the thought of being possessed by BOB is so cruel und unsettling that it makes me shiver. Lynch also shows how great television can be with the ending scene ( Cooper/Red Curtain/"The world spins"). Absolutely mesmerizing!

This song of Julee Cruise really helps this already great scene to transcend the show to a whole new level. Whenever I hear "The world spins" I get this "spacy"  feeling like I´m floating in mid-air. Lynchs work reaches me on a very intuitive level and I often wonder how he does that.

YES! You're so right! I feel the same way listening to it. I felt that it really added to the scene, and made me feel more emotional during the scene. It works so well, and conveys all the emotions in one song. The song is so ethereal and beautiful and whenever I hear it I get really sad and happy at the same time.

The music is so important in Twin Peaks. Angelo Badalamenti deserves so much credit. Without the music Twin Peaks wouldn't be half what it is.

Episode 14 is something else isn't it? I read somewhere (maybe here) that Dana Ashbrook wasn't meant to be in those final scenes but he was just around set and Lynch put him in. It just works absolutely perfectly.

Outside of Twin Peaks itself I have never, ever seen anything to touch that episode.

Hey, we had such a game once here on the board, where we were choosing our favourite episode... Remember? Was kind of like a sport competition, there were pairs of episodes and board members could choose which one they prefer, then the "winner" was through to the next round and the "loser" was out of the game... I think Ep.14 won... But I don't remember if it was on THIS board or on the previous layout and therefore is it possible to find anywhere?

Can anyone help?

I thought that was brillant. I loved the otherwordly feeling you get when Julee Cruise is singing and everything is slowed down and you see everyone in the Roadhouse. I thought that showing Bobby Briggs sitting at the bar and showing other characters in the scene aswell was really wonderful and added alot to the overall atmosphere of the scene.

I would have to say the last one. There are several that stand out, but the last one just owns my soul. :)
