I'm watching X-files on DVD right now, and I was thinking that it would be interesting to see what episodes most people like best. It's such a great show, and I love Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny... anyway please post your top five eps if you watch the show, as well as any comments/discussions about the show... If you don't know the names of the eps, just describe them. You can do less than five too if you like... you don't have to put them in any kind of order either. I'll post mine in a little bit, I have to do some thinking about it first... There are so many episodes I love.

There are so many quality X-Files eppys that its hard to pick just 5 but I'll list 5 of my faves Jump The Shark (The one where the Lone Gunmen die, very sad) Redux 1 and 2 (where Section Cheif Blevins is revealed as the 'man at the FBI') Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man (A look back at the possible life of CGB Spender aka Cigarette Smoking Man) Erlenmeyer Flask (end of season 1) Eve (midway through season 1) I absolutely loved the X-Files, I have the entire set all 206 episodes! My only quibble was that season 8 and 9 werent as good due to the lack of Mulder, although Dogget and Reyes did well, it wasnt quite the same. CGB Spender was a damn good villian, a real bastard you loved to hate, Alex Krycek was a slimy wee shit, but a loveable sly shit, and I will admit that I had the hots for Marita Covurrubias lol

The funny eps were usually some of the best. Some of the least interesting were the mythology episodes, unfortunately. Just off the top of my head: "Jose Chung's From Outer Space" (specifically the pie scene, and Mulder's surprised yelp), "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose", "Pusher", "Humbug". I also remember loving "How The Ghosts Stole Christmas", with Lily Tomlin and Ed Asner, but it's been years since I've seen it. I might remember some more later.

Let's do top ten instead... there are too many great ones for top five (people who only did five can add more to their list). I'm gonna try and do this in order, though I'm not saying that the one at the top is my absolute favorite. I've only got the first 4 seasons on DVD, so all these are gonna be from those: 1. Beyond the Sea 2. Jose Chung's From Outer Space 3. The Erlenmeyer Flask 4. Ice 5. Syzygy 6. Paper Clip 7. Gethsemane 8. Fearful Symmetry 9. Home 10. Eve

How about, Biggest Letdown X-Files Episode? That prize goes to the Talking Tina ripoff written by Steve "Phoning It In" King. Okay, so there are some really creepy scenes in it (like the bleeding eyeballs, for one), but the whole concept is so beneath King and the show.

I collected the entire series one by one about 2 years ago, but haven't watched them at all since I finished. But my fav episode is probably...the ep where the guy is going backward in the week. You know, he starts at the end of the week and makes his way back. It was during the John Doggett era.

"Home" and "Paperclip" are two great ones..."Duane Barry"...awesome, I just like Steve Railsback, perfect casting for Duane...I should have just put "Duane Barry" and "Ascension" into one pick like I did "Pusher" and its sequel.

"Redrum", starring Joe Morton, who costarred (but shared no scenes) with Robert Patrick in Terminator 2. It probably is the most intersting nonmythos episode of the final two seasons. Though that one where Doggett has the extended (vaguely Lynchian) dream sequence and wakes up just before killing Scully is also really terrific. Especially the brief segment where Doggett speaks backwards (with subtitles, even).

Here's another batch of favorites. "Humbug" "The Jersey Devil" "Kill Switch" -- if not for the Gunmen in this episode alone. Frohike, "She is so HOT." "Triangle" "Monday"

As I recall, I pretty much quit watching the show after that one. It actually made me angry.

again Rocky, "Humbug" is a great episode with Michael J. Anderson stereotyping Mulder correctly and the late Vincent S. (I am not going to attempt to spell his last name this early) who's always cool in whatever he did..."Monday" is a pretty darn good episode...the 6th season was when X Files started losing its steam (I know many claimed it lost it earlier)but "Monday" and "Triangle are two of the best episodes of the 6th season. The latter is in my top ten ;)

Season 5 was still going strong, in my opinion. Save for the doll episode...what was that called? Chimera? I agree mid to end season 6 is when it started to lose it's luster. And really toward the end...Spooky gets abducted...found dead in a field...buried....dug up later like a moldy truffle...mmmkay. Doggett taking over the X-Files pissed me off. That's me. I couldn't quit going, "Damn it, you're Liquid Metal Guy!" LOL Two others that actually gave me the creeps from the earlier episodes were "Tooms" and "Squeeze"-- a guy who could literally squeeze into anything...that secretion from livers that he used...BLEH! Too bad he couldn't squeeze out from under that escalator...:D Anybody's thoughts on the X-Files movie, Fight the Future?

I thought the movie was very good and was successly made to gear towards a wider audience beyond the show's regular to hardcore fans. It had lots of action, was fast paced, exciting and well written. And it had plenty of elements of the show's to mythology for the bigtime fans without "alien"ating the moviegoers who might not get all that stuff, but it was explained enough to where they could fit it in with what was going on in the movie.

I've only seen the first two eps of season 5 (Redux and Redux II... well I've seen some others but that was back when they first aired). I have to say that's the best season opener out of all of them. Some of the eps towards the end of S5 seem kinda lame from the description though... but I love X-files, and I'm gonna try to watch all the episodes this time (though Season 9 is some kind of awful... the only ep I liked of that season that I saw was the last one). I liked the movie a lot. Haven't seen in a long time though, but I'm pretty sure I'll still like it. Not as good as some of the better mythology eps of the show, but still excellent. It was actually written and filmed during the break between seasons 4 and 5, back when the show was in it's creative peak (according to most).

*wipes forehead after digging up old thread* I saw the newest movie I Want to Believe yesterday. Did anyone on here see it? If so, what are your thoughts? I was disappointed, although I loved the snowy locale. Amanda Peet and Xibit were cardboard characters. I have only seen X-Files through about Season 6 and just started watching Season 7. When did Mulder and Scully start sleeping together? I love this show because it shouts from the mountaintops 90s! Favs of the top of my noggin - Home, Toombs, Die Han Die Verlizt (SP?) - Mulder tells Scully to hide her Megadeth tapes, the Frankenstein one, the one with the LMFAP

In no particular order... The Post-Modern Prometheus. Possibly the most bizarre episode of series television ever created that doesn't have the name "Twin Peaks" on it. Freaks, animal-human hybrids, Jerry Springer, Cher...just genius. The Unusual Suspects. Flashback to Mulder's first meeting with the Lone Gunmen. Cool, hilarious and so much fun that I can even forget that the lovely Gillian Anderson isn't in this one. Can't remember the name of this one, but it's the first time we meet Donnie Pfaster the death-fetishist/serial killer and he kidnaps Scully. Just a great, creepy episode. Again, can't remember the name of this one. I'll just call it the Genie episode. Hilarious. Mulder gets three wishes, wishes for world peace and gets it...because all the people disappear. All of the Mythology stuff from Season 2 up to about Season 5 (it got way too convoluted after that). It's hard to single out a single episode, but Paper Clip and The Blessing Way are standouts. Hard to pick just five. So many great shows.
EDIT I didn't realize we were doing ten, now. That's what I get for not reading the whole thing before I post. Here's five more: Triangle Jose Chung's From Outer Space Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose Small Potatoes Bad Blood

I watched the Season 7 episode First Person Shooter last night. I knew it was gonna be good when the locale text flashed across the lower left bottom of the screen INLAND EMPIRE, CA.

Because the Cigarette Smoking Man came slowly running at the screen from a great distance until eventually it was an extreme closeup of his distorted grinning?/crying? face.
