New posters!
EDIT: Added to page one.
These are the badass ones. The crappy Photoshops (which are, unfortunately, official), featuring Bats, Mr. J, and Harvey Dent, can be found at Yahoo! Movies and other places. And finally, last but not least, the NEW TRAILER ... on Sunday.

Really? Are we going to cringe every time a building is damaged in a movie, now? This isn't Uwe Boll's Postal, here.

I think Batman doing a gigantor wheelie is in far worse taste, personally.

And here... we... go.
Trailer #3 Most of you who saw Iron Man have already seen this, but now it's available for download. High points: a look at Joker's theatrical side. Harvey Dent. A glimpse of Two-Face. "Base jumping" in Hong Kong. Now that the last trailer paved the way for our first glimpses of Joker in action, this one goes full speed ahead with piot details. "Kill the Batman."

Looks like it's going to be better than the first one at least. I dig the looks of the Joker and Two-Face (though anything is better than the Tommy Lee Jones version).

QUOTE: I dig the looks of the Joker and Two-Face

On the subject of Two-Face, there's some leaked concept art floating about of what the scorched side looks like. WB have been sending out cease-and-desists to sites hosting the pic, which is essentially a confirmation that it's legit. I've seen it (sort of wish I hadn't), and lemme tell ya, it's grue(awe)some. Also, the official site has been updated, with all three trailers available in Quicktime and WMV.

I'm psyched now. I like the Joker portrayal more and more for each trailer, and my initial doubts that Eckhardt was somewhat wrong as Harvey Dent are gone. So I guess the Batman lives in a penthouse now like he did in the Denis O'Neil days in the 70s? It's a logical development after the ending of the last film, of course, but I like the idea anyway. It always made sense to me to have him living in a super-expensive flat in the middle of the city. I've been rereading some of the 70s stories lately. Even if they're mostly too short and with excessive use of exclamation points, the O'Neil/Adams stories are some of my favourites. And Adams drew the best Bats ever.

From IESB.net : The haunting score to the hotly anticipated feature film The Dark Knight -- will be released by Warner Bros. Records on July 15, 2008, three days before the movie opens nationwide on July 18th. Warner Bros. Records will release four different configurations of The Dark Knight soundtrack: a standard jewel case CD, a 2 LP set of heavy-weight 180 gram vinyl version, a special edition digipack, and a collector's edition with special artwork to come after release.
So anyone holding on to that old turntable can listen to the soundtrack on vinyl. Looks like I'm going to be waiting on the "collector's edition", 'cause, well, I gotta have it all. Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard on the score: Let’s talk about the "Joker Suite." This almost sounded like an orchestral interpretation of an industrial song. Zimmer: Look, I'm German, so I come from the German tradition of Kraftwerk.... But I kept thinking I wanted to find a way to bring corrosion into Gotham -- corrosion and recklessness. The funny thing about that piece is that I knew what I wanted to do, but it took me months to actually do it. Nobody could play it. It's all about acting and attitude, in a way. It's very much of the idea of taking one note and expressing any part of fearlessness and recklessness and surprise.... It is very industrial music. I tried to give it a punk attitude. I used to work with the Damned and bands like that. Howard: What's great about the Joker theme to me is that it feels totally untethered. It just kind of exists. It lives somewhere in the cracks. Read the rest of the interview here.

If I'm ever gonna see this movie it will be only because of the wonderful cast, especially Heath Ledger. And I'm not one of those admiring him just because he died. I liked him in almost every movie he's done and I'm curious to see how he plays the Joker. About the new Batman franchise that Hollywood launched with the help of Nolan's crafty hands, I can only say that I'm pretty disgusted. Compared to the first saga directed by Tim Burton, these two new Batman are just too obviously oriented towards the mindless audience that wants the action, the fast-pacing and all that. And I will clarify that I didn't like the saga at its own time, but right now if I compare the two franchises, I applaud Tim Burton and also Joel Schumacher for making movies that were like comic books, although they may have been betrayals to the comic book fanatics of the world. My whole point is that Nolan gave up his careeer accepting the money side of Hollywood (are there other sides?). He's making these Batman movies just for the fun and the money. I understand that, but she should publicly declare that. If he ever goes back to doing good things like Insomnia and Memento, which I doubt, I will be grateful... Otherwise, he's just the same old funny director turning his back on his fans.

In between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, Nolan co-wrote and directed The Prestige, maybe the best film of his career so far. It played with chronology in a way not seen in his work since Memento; it was certainly not custom-fitted for blockbuster crowds. Batman Begins curbed the excesses of the increasingly campy franchise and redirected its energy to character development and an in-depth exploration of the iconography that defines the comics. The Dark Knight takes that same approach to two of Batman's most famous villains, Joker and Two-Face, characters that were previously played mostly for laughs. Batman Begins was 140 minutes, The Dark Knight clocks in at 152. The pace is far from fast. tl;dr version - I don't agree with your post. ---- OP updated with more official links.

Silencio, I find it hard, having lived through the Schumacher franchise and the horrid marketing it spawned, that you actually have given what you're saying much thought.
About selling out, Insomnia is actually a remake, and the result of some bright Hollywood executive thinking that if we just water down the original Norwegian film, put Al Pacino in the lead, add some clearer sense of morality and - to top it off - disguise it as an original... then it will be a hit. Not exactly the avant garde of anything, except maybe cynicism. I think Nolan has a lot more integrity nowadays. (And I was never that crazy about Memento.) I'm also confused about the supposed fact that Burton's films are like the comic books. They're not, neither in storylines (no Batman story had had Joker killing Bruce's parents), nor in style: the fairy-tale/German Expressionism silliness of Batman Returns looks more like a pastiche like The Hudsucker Proxy than an actual comic book. Batman Begins, on the other hand, was pretty close to the Miller/Mazzucchelli classic "Year One." It also seems like The Dark Knight will take stuff from both the classic O'Neil/Adams stories and newer stuff like Loeb/Sale's "The Long Halloween." So I don't get what you're saying at all. Keep in mind the camp sensibility of the Schumacher franchise hadn't really been a part of Batman since the 60s. In the 30s, 40s, early 50s and again in the 70s through to today Batman had a sturm und drang for kids thing going. It's deeply serious. Schumacher betrayed that and fucked the character over. At least Adam West was funny while doing it.

More TV spots with new footage. Finally caught one on the air this morning. "I love this job" "Introduce a little anarchy"
"Gotham needs you"
"Tonight, you're gonna break your one rule" And for those who haven't already, click the picture in my sig for a surprise.
Tickets are now going on sale online. If you're planning to see it in IMAX (which I recommend; I'm driving an hour 1/2 to do just that), here's a list of all the theatres in the US & Canada that will be showing it.

Silencio, I read your post again to see if I was being unfair to you. I'm pretty sure I wasn't, and, frankly, I'm more confused than ever. How can the Burton films be faithful to the comic books while angering the fanatics? Wouldn't the supposed fanatics know better than most if the films were faithful to the comics? Nothing in your post makes any sense to me. Logichat and I have already disputed your Hollywood/money point, and I'm very interested in understanding how anyone can prefer the Schumacher films to Batman Begins. Hell, I'd be interested to know how anyone can prefer the Burton films to Batman Begins - even though I realise these people do exist.
Instead of just claiming that the old franchise was more comic-like, how about actually explaining what you mean? (For what it's worth, I think the first Burton film was decent, if misguided and actually really campy, albeit in a new way. Nicholson is fun, but that's it, and there's no depth in the character. Also, the very idea that the Joker killed Bruce's parents is preposterous, reductive and against everything that made the Joker interesting in the first place. Returns is actually pretty cool, if a bit too silly at times, but at least Burton introduced a new expressionist set design to Gotham that worked for that particular movie - even if it doesn't look like the comics at all. The Schumacher films are too terrible for words.)

The RS review reports something of a homo-erotic connection between hero & villain. Joker says : "I don't want to kill you. You complete me." Maybe they should retitle it : BrokeBat Mountain.

Ho ho, good one, suave, I sure haven't been hearing that one since 2006! Joker's obsession with Batman has always been the underpinning of their relationship. The late 80's saw books like Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns and Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum casting that obsession in a homoerotic light, the latter containing this choice scene (scroll down). But many agree that it's more accurate to consider Joker an asexual being, who can change the appearance of orientations to suit his own flamboyance. Anyway, enough of this "I read comix in college" crap, here's some new content: a Dominoes Pizza site containing an exclusive new trailer.

The viral site Why So Serious revealed another nifty poster.
It's official, they're gonna keep fans in hysterics until midnight on the 18th. The fact that I received a package from the Citizens for Batman today isn't helping the wait any. Take a look...
Keychain, bumper stickers, window stickers, and a pin. F*ck yeah. Though it was dampened a bit by my cousin revealing that she'll be attending the premiere in New York City. Damnit.
