The summer had inhaled and held its breath too long

The winter looked the same as if it never had gone

And through an open window where no curtain hung

I saw you...

"Friday, I'm in Love"  - Cure

The silicon chip inside her head
Gets switched to overload.
And nobody's gonna go to school today
She's gonna make them stay at home.

The Boomtown Rats - I don't like Mondays

too scared to turn your light out

'cos there's something on your mind

was that a noise outside your window?

what's that shadow on the blind?

as you lay there naked

like a body in a tomb

suspended animation as I slip into your room

"Night Prowler" -- AC/DC

I've come undone

But you make sense of who I am

Like puzzle pieces in your eye

There's a rainbow on the other side
To pull me through."

The Style Council - Money-Go-Round

"Angry faces, cursing loud. Changing places, falling proud.  Behind the bomb, no one cares.  Time is money, we're taught to tear."

"I'm talking about seeing beyond fear, Roger.  About looking at the world with love."

cocksucker blues- the rolling stones

"They filled me full of drink
And led me round the rooms
Naked and cold and grinning
Until everything went black
And I came down spinning
I awoke so drunk and full of rage
That I could hardly speak
A fag in a whale-bone corset
Draping his dick across my cheek
And its into the shame
And its into the guilt
And its into the fucking fray
And the walls ran red around me
a warm arterial spray"

(I find it very amusing that whoever the poster is messing up the board with his scat was so affected by the Nick Cave lyric he had to call out to Jesus...)

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Papa Won't Leave You, Henry

I re-read silly lines

that made sense at the time

pages all stained with tears & red wine & I

walk through the airport & read magazines

every face that I see

so much younger than me

& I drink & I think

how I don't even miss

my glorious past or the lips that I've kissed

& I smile to myself at how easy this is...

easy to breathe, easy to live

"I'm talking about seeing beyond fear, Roger.  About looking at the world with love."

when i was a fool - concrete blond

i just thought the lyrics were fitting after suave's "cocksucker blues"
anywho...

"your black and white power
is gonna be a crumbling tower
and we who stand divided
so goddamn undecided
give this some thought
in stupidness we've all been caught"

Wow, that one takes me way back...

Mighty Mighty Spade and Whitey - Curtis Mayfield

which makes me remember this:

Night, descends, as the sun's light ends

And black comes back, to blend again

And with the depth of the sun

Night blackness become one

Blackness being you

Peeping through the red, the white, and the blue

Dreaming of bars, black civilizations that once flourished and grew..

edit: perhaps not strictly who "sang" it...

The above lyrics are NOT from Cocksucker Blues, which is TECHNICALLY a Jagger solo. There IS a band version, but the classic is the spare acoustic guitar demo which he infamously played to a nagging London Records exec to dissuade them from pressuring the Stones for new material. Yeah, it worked. "Where can I get get my cock sucked? Where can I get my ass fucked? I ain't got no money, but I know where to put it every time."

Thirty Dirty Birds - Chilipeppers, from their often overlooked Freaky Styley LP.

Ben:  "We've laid in a gala reception for your fair-haired boys tonight.  All of Twin Peaks' best and brightest."

Jerry: "We're holding it in a phone booth?"

OK........

The Clock struck midnight

And through my sleeping

I heard a tapping at my door

I looked but nothing lay in the darkness

And so i turned inside once more

Ben:  "We've laid in a gala reception for your fair-haired boys tonight.  All of Twin Peaks' best and brightest."

Jerry: "We're holding it in a phone booth?"
