There is something specific to some of your configurations that I need help with. I mainly use FireFox on Windows XP so if you are using IE on Windows XP I need to know, or if you are using X on Y I need to know that too. Please start posting your operating system and your browser so I can try and duplicate the problem. If I can't duplicate it then it's a lot harder to diagnose. Also, your intnet connection speed (56K, DSL, etc)

Also make sure you are allowing cookies to be set.

Okay, I made a minor change to the portion of the board that keeps track of logins. Let's see if that helps.

MSA - I am going to try and send you a PM. Please try and respond to it.

Also, at one point are you getting logged out when you try and send a PM? Is it upon submission of the PM? What happens then? Do you get a "You are logged out message"?

responded, and it worked this time around. In the past, it was right after I hit SEND I was taken directly to a page saying "you must be logged in to do this" or something. Whatever the problem, it seems fixed. I am no longer double signed on or anything.

This happened to me once after posting a message in the off topic section. But haven´t had any problems since. I use Mozilla. That has (almost) always worked fine for me.

I just wanted to point out that right now we have 3 members signed in and 28 guests.  Does that sound right?  I don't remember so many "guests" on the old board.  FYI.

I just got kicked off the board again!  But I'm stubbornly back on.  I wanted to let you know that for the people who have created profiles and have some type of messenger service (I have MSN), when you click on that it says you made an error.  Will this be fixed?

Also, on the old board we had the option of removing our signature with each post.  I don't see where we can do that now.  Especially for pms, it is annoying.

The signature thing isn't an error message and most likely will not be handled anytime soon. We'll look into the MSN thing.

Yes, I know about the IM errors. I'll get those fixed this weekend.

The signature option isn't way low on the priority list but it will get done. But please put suggestions in the suggestions forum, and not in the error forum. Otherwise, it probably will fall through the cracks and not get done.

With regards to the logging out - I really do think there's something spefici to your computer that is causing that problem.

OK, sorry, I'll try and put the suggestions in the right place.  I was trying not to hog all the space in that small area.

I have Dial-up, so I'm sure that's what's causing some of the problems.  I promise to stop complaining.  You have done a wonderful job getting this place back up.  Thanks!

Don't stop complaining - it does need to be fixed, I just don't know how to produce it so I can make heads and tails out of it. Dial-up shouldn't be the problem.

Is there anyone else on dial-up that is still having a hard time logging in?

Annie - Kelly was able to duplicate this problem at work and gave me a little info that might help in determining what's going on. I won't be bale to work on it this weekend but we'll give it a shot.

Annie, let me know if you have any problems now.

Here's a terribly long error message I received when I tried to change my signature. Forgive me if something like it has already been posted, but I couldn't bear sifting through all the previous posts. Hope it helps in some way...

Your signature is too long. I'm not sure what the size limit is but I think it's either 50, 75, or 100. I also edited your post to remove the error.

I also got this error message for a 57-word, 238-character signature (in 8-point font). And yet I've noticed a user with a 70-word, 317-character sig (in default font size), who obviously received no message. Curious about this.

Just because your signature looks to be 30 characters, it doesn't mean it's actually 30 characters. Because we are using a WYSIWYG editor, there's HTML behind what you are typing so a lot of formatting could easily result in this probelm. The person with the default font size may actually have used up less space than a person who used a font size of 8.

For the record, I have doubled the size of the signature field. It was 500 and is now 1000. Try it now and see if it works.

I have had some problems lately. I get often logged off when I write a pm. If I take too long writing it, that is. And today I wanted to post in the I-thread. It kept saying that there was no connection or something??? And eventually I was logged off

I haven´t had any problems for a long time. This started 2 weeks ago I think. I know that other members have had the same problems lately.

I use Mozilla btw

I must've missed that odd formatting issue two posts up. It's now fixed. Had something to do with the "quote" function - I always knew that thing was a potential problem.

Ditte - That error from today was technically an error, but not one regarding the board specifically. The website server must have gone down temporarily.

Regarding the PM post - that's been a problem since day 1 I think, and usually only happens if you are idle for more than 20 minutes. HOWEVER, I think the cookie isn't working right on that page which is why you may see that problem. User Settings and PMs was thrown together pretty quickly in December so I know it's buggy

I noticed that user crabalocker also has his name mentioned twice on the 'community page. Same problem?

I was once listed as being logged in 3 times at once. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the browser you are using. I had so many problems, then I switched browsers, and it has been clear sailing ever since.

EDIT: although, there are like 5 people double logged in right now. 2 of them are moderators. I think there may be an issue after all
