Laura was describing Leo in her diary,as a mysterious and very sexy guy,but i don't think he was treating her just like he treats Shelly.

Leo's handsome guy, although he acts like an asshole and treats Shelly like a poor slave, but anyway, watching the last few episodes, i believe he really loved her ( that "Save Shelly, save Shelly!..." is nice)

Well, in one of the episodes Shelly told that at first Leo was charming in his own way with his nice car and all but he started to be very very dominating after they got married.
"He was so great at first, you know? This flashy guy in
his hot car; sure beat sitting in some stupid classroom ...
we get married and I find out what he's lookin' for is a
maid he doesn't have to pay ... I feel so stupid." http://www.lynchnet.com/tp/tp04.html

There are two things why he didn't treat Laura like he treated Shelly. A) He wasn't married to Laura B) Laura had enormously huge sexual drive and she was quite damn kinky at times so Leo got to relief his frustrations and sexual lust when he wanted and the way he wanted. So there wasn't any reason to oppress Laura like he did Shelly because Laura already pleased Leo and he didn't have to live with her because of marriage.

I'd say Leo might have loved Shelly before they got married. But Leo had his problems so he ended up being very frustrated and angry and when he wasn't easing the frustration with Laura or some other prostitutes he ended up beating and mocking Shelly. Then again, he might've just been purposedly seducing Shelly so that he would get Shelly to either be his slave or a sex slave. But in the end, I'd say that the story of Leo was about the growth of a person. As if the message would be that even as sleazy guy as Leo was, guys like Leo can change. It is possible. Just like it's possible that a loving, caring and well known father would rape his own daughter. In Leo's case he had to go through hell himself so that he could gain an ability to feel and show some empathy.

 Hehe,so Leo is a good lover,but not a good husband :)))))

You can all probly guess where my funnest scenes are!? But i would like to say that i do probly find the humour in TP to be my fav part of it. My Fav (other than 'her' scenes) i would say that Harry and everyone elses confusion when cooper is explaning the rocks and bottle technique! I think Harry is a very funny character!.

Cheers

Denise, I would assume you're no longer interested in girls.

Coop, I may be wearing a dress, but I still pull my panties on one leg at a time, if you know what I mean.

Not really.

I love Coop's almost child-like state of wonder that he shows from time to time. It seems like he loves every living thing until Waldo the bird enters the office and he quite flatly states that he 'doesn't like birds' to a shocked silence from everyone else in the room. Great moment!

I find this to be one of the dumbest scenes in the entire series... it's merely a ridiculous contrivance to free Maj. Briggs (you wonder why they bothered with his kidnapping in the first place). I mean this scene occurs only a few days after Leo tried to kill Shelly himself. What could have possibly happened in the meantime to make him change his mind? The whole Leo was screwed up after season 1, he really should have died. Although there are a few great scenes that come about from his comatose state, such as Bobby and Shelly's drunken partying, the creepy scenes where he starts to move, and the terrifying scene where he tries to kill Shelly late in the series, in my opinion probably the best scene between eps 14 and 29.

That god damn trailer's more popular than Uncle's Day in a whorehouse!

Everyone has feelings! He was cruel,yes..but not heartless.Maybe he realised his mistakes and regreted doing all those bad things to Shelly...

I think he might have just been protecting his property. Typical abusive husband, beats his own wife but if anyone else touches her, they'll die.

Leo knew what an evil Windom Earle was, perhaps Leo knew he would kill him,and ...when someone is  only a step before death ,he/she begins to think in different way.Maybe Leo really changed his mind about Shelly,he learnt the value of life and true love...perhaps he just wanted a redemption..or at least that's what I believe..

Ummm.... What happened? Well, Earle happened.

.....and the electric shocks.....

.....and the slavery.

Maybe it was the first time for Leo to feel the same as Leo's own "slaves" had felt. So he finally knew how Shelly must have felt when he was beating her.

Exactly! first he gets shot an lies in a coma, then the electric shocks...that makes a man quite different...why do u think they still use shocktreatment (lightely) in some cases? It reeeeally slows your brain down.

Right after Big Leo assassinates poor little Waldo - the ultra-serious look on Leo's face while he's looking back at his deed is priceless. That one always cracks me up the most.

when the little fella to whom _______ is being big brother[please excuse me, remembering names are often not my strong suit. i'm over 40...] spins the stool at the diner and andy falls off. as well, when _____________'s car is being repaired by him and the little boy honks the horn. that kid's impudence just fractures me every time i see these scenes!

pete saying' there's a fiiiiiiish in the coffee pot'

leo saying 'new shoes'.

as well, the saleman for the chairlift in leo's shack. when he kept banging against the wall in it, i would just die laughing.

or the character, toad's, brief appearances in the diner. his table manners were an abomination!!

oh, many, many others.

'I love Coop's almost child-like state of wonder that he shows from time to time. It seems like he loves every living thing until Waldo the bird enters the office and he quite flatly states that he 'doesn't like birds' to a shocked silence from everyone else in the room. Great moment! '

oh, i fully agree!

 This is a good one^

The more times I watch the episodes, over time different stuff makes me laugh. At the end of episode 8 when coop is laying down the whole thing and albert coments and andy cries and tells off albert and bursts out slamming door is so dam funny.

Some others that make me chuckle...

When the Log Lady slaps Coop's hand when he goes for a cookie when they are all at her house.  Watch the look on his face--priceless!

"Bonzai! Remember those old world war II movies?? BONZAIIIIII!" Gordon bending down to just bellow into the little tree, and then Earle's pissed off grunt and throwing the listening device down as Gordon's voice booms in his ears.  Doesn't Leo burp after this??

When "Denise" comes sauntering into the Double R on those high heels, and sits straight across from Ernie Niles...gets right down to the point, all while applying new lipstick and finishing with a smile while pretty much saying, "You, Mr. Niles, are f*cked."

When Pete, in his hospital bed after the fire, goes to sniff his hospital food...takes off his oxygen cannula and gives it a go...then gasps and chokes, shoving his breathing device back on and inhaling the air as deeply as he can.

And another with the hospital food...Doc Hayward to the nurse regarding Jacoby, "Is he ON something?" "Only what you prescribed...I think he did take a little of his food..." "Good God, could that be it?" :D

you're serious with this question?... I mean, I understand why you think Leo's plot was screwed up in general after Season 1 but are you seriously asking the question what happened to Leo between Eps. 21 and 28?

Well, other people answered that before - a total nightmare happened to him, one which could have changed Leo's view on EVERYTHING. After such few days with Windom I don't think there could be ANY behaviour of his that I would find surprising.

By the way this:

I think he might have just been protecting his property. Typical abusive husband, beats his own wife but if anyone else touches her, they'll die.

was also a good explanation.

Who says abusive husbands don't love their wives?  Just because they have a dysfunctional, unacceptable way of expressing their love does not mean that it isn't "love" in their eyes.  For Leo, Shelley is a possession: only he can love her, only he can sleep with her, and only he can hurt her.  He's as angry that someone else might kill her as he is that she's sleeping around behind his back.

The scenes where Bobby flirts with Audrey.  Think anything went on between those two? Bobby certainly was up for it.
