I JUST finished reading Riversong by Craig Lesley. It was a requirement for one of my summer term classes. Next I'm hoping to poke through The Milagro Beanfield War, which was supposed to be assigned reading for that same class but the instructor dropped it from the homework list during the first week of the term. After we'd all bought it. Grrr. Anyway, I've heard it was a good read, so I'm up for it.

I am almost done with Twilight--haven't had much chance to read lately, but once I am done with it, New Moon is next...am hooked already.  I don't have many chapters left to go, and New Moon is sitting on the coffee table waiting patiently...as well as Eclipse...LOL.

Lynch on Lynch - Chris Rodley  (used to have a previous copy that disappeared and just picked up a new one- as I read it I picture Lynch waving his fingers in the air through the entire interview process in the book)

But I also want to read some good fiction, dammit!

Fiction - Empire - Orson Scott Card

Meh.  The story is, so far, not bad.  I just wish ficiton authors could avoid having their characters parrott their personal political philosophy to such a great extent.  A line, sure. A paragraph, fine  Three pages straight is a little much though.  Of course it dosen't help that it runs countrary to my own political phlosophy but I've seen other authors, who are closer to me on these issues, do the same thing and didn't like it there either.

“Enjoy Your Symptom!” by Slavoj Žižek. It is a Lacanian analysis of several “classic” films, as well as a brief focus upon Twin Peaks and specifically Dale Cooper.

I am enjoying the hell out of Lynch on Lynch, reading about painting and shed building. I love how Lynch makes art out of the mundane.

Read David Lynch Decoded in one sitting - short but sweet book.

I am reading The Orchid Shroud by Michelle Wan.  It's not very good, but I've gotten far enough into it that I will finish it, and then lambast it on Goodreads.

The Great Derangement by Matt Taibbi.  I think this Rolling Stone reporter is the closest thing we have to  a successor to Hunter S. Thompson.  His reports on day to day business in Congress and weekend retreats at John Hagee's church are maddeningly funny.

It was recommended to me by 12rainbow.  It is very short, but I enjoyed it and read it in one sitting.  It covers all of his films and TP and goes all the way through INLAND EMPIRE.  It discusses common themes throughout all of his works.  The price is on the steep side for how short it is, but again I still enjoyed it.  It may not be as in-depth as other books on Lynch, but it is easily understood.  It is only a 100 and something pages so that may turn you off to it in relation to price.  I'll leave it up to you, JFK!

Catching the Big Fish by David Lynch

Dang, this book is LONG!

I love how it says on the back cover a new exclusive chapter has been added for the paperback edition and it is a whopping 2 pages.

It has some good inspirational and Lynchian stuff, but the quantity of TM stuff grew tiresome.

Me kidding too kidding.  It's the nature of the economy we have; get big or get out.  Of course it seems to Me that we are seeing that philosophy run up against reality these days but then again I am a sky is falling type of guy.

On topic; Unpopular Essays by Bertrand Russell.  This guy is great.

I've been trying to reread my way back through the first two books in the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris, but I keep having to pause to laugh too much. (The second one, Dead in Dallas is just incredibly silly)

Erotism: Death and Sensuality by Georges Batailles

I just ordered Gogo Girls of the Apocalypse, too.

I gave up on Harris with Dead in Dallas.  Life is too short to muck your way through shitty books, imo.

How to Write Your First Novel by (I don't know off the top of my head)

David Lynch by Michel Chion

A Hardy Boys book (because I am trying to revert to a childhood state)

Street Fighting Man - Rolling Stones

Shit, wrong thread again!

Just Kidding. How many quotes can a quote button quote before the whole thing goes ouroboros on us?

I was a street fighter for a few years, totally non violent of course, if you don't count that time I got the cop with the bird puppet  Got to the point where it seemed like all we were doing talking to ourselves and feeding our egos.  Now I try to live my values and be as compassionate to everyone I come across as I can.  Fail too often but that's why it has to start at home.

On Topic;

Re-reading Watchmen, stimulated by the trailer.  Wow it's amazing, I've loved it for years but have never really caught on to the layering, the temporally discontinuous nature of the story line.  I mean I saw it, I read it but never really 'got' it. Or maybe I'm just tripping.
