Probably doesn't qualify as an error, but the registration page won't let you choose a one-letter user name.

I bug for a living, so this'll be fun for me!  Good job turning a mishap into an adventure!

I'm very excited about this new Gazette era.  Of course, I'm not the one doing all the hard work...

So, down to business.  The color tab on the Post a Message page: the first time I open it when reaching this page, only the leftmost 8 or 10 pixels of it display.  After that, it seems fine.

Also, the Last Post column in the forum subsections (e.g. once you've gone into Off-Topic) actually lists the thread author.  (Last Post in the Main Menu is working correctly.)

I'm using Firefox 1.5 in XP Professional.

Have fun...

Ah dang, I accidentlly deleted the "Post Reply" and "Quote" feature for each post. I'll try and get those up today.

In any case,

So, down to business.  The color tab on the Post a Message page: the first time I open it when reaching this page, only the leftmost 8 or 10 pixels of it display.  After that, it seems fine.

I need clarification. Are you looking at the WYSIWYG editor? I'm running the latest Firefox and it's coming up fine. Can you post/send a screenshot?

Also, the Last Post column in the forum subsections (e.g. once you've gone into Off-Topic) actually lists the thread author.  (Last Post in the Main Menu is working correctly.)

That shouldn't be. I'll fix that today sometime.

Here' tis...

As I said, it only does this once per message/reply -- if I had clicked on the Colors button again right after this pic, it would have showed up normally.

ah yes, I did see that too the first time I was going to use colors. My guess is that it has something to do with this editor so I'll look through the documentation on the site (www.fckeditor.net). I'm still not 100% convinced this is the editor to use, but it's free and it does a lot - like file manger-ing. I guess we could just use the normal thing that we were using but that's no fun. I really do like the ability to play around with the text like this.

Within a forum, the last post column credits the originator of the thread, not the author of the latest post.

Not that anyone's day will be ruined by this minor malfunction.  :-)

Once upon a time, Jamie posted a bug that didn't happen again when he tried to reproduce it here.  It was about trying to post the lightbulb smiley and having it not show up in the thread.

You know, one of these:

Let's see if the Last Post Bug is now fixed....

I think this is now fixed. NExt time someone posts to  a thread, it should update the proper fields and also display properly (two bugs there).

It's not an error message as such, but...

when I have submitted a post it takes me straight back to a blank 'post a message' page.

It's not a big problem though.

I have run into that a few times as well--the blank screen after posting a message--it has only happened a few times. The message goes through fine, just directs you right back to the blank screen.

  1. Post a message. Click "post message."
  2. At the next screen where it says "Your message has been posted" or whatever, instead of clicking anything, wait for the site to redirect you.
  3. See new blank message waiting patiently for you.

Please view source and look for the word "refresh" so I can see where it's trying to go because I can't duplicate.

not an error message, but

for each post, under people's username, it says "view profile" and "send PM"... but at least for me, these are just text, and do not actually do anything.

That doesn't make sense to me. It should just redirect to "topics.cfm?postid=XXX". Does it work if you click the link?

Not sure if this is an error or not but whenever I try and post a MSN smiley  to go with my message it automatically highlights the blue text next to it as if I had cut and pasted the text I'd just written.  Not the smiley just the text.  If there's a reason for that and it's likely to cause a problem I could just skip smiley usage but I was just worried that it might automatically cut the text out, if you see what I mean.

Something else I just noticed that has happened a couple of times.  whenever I post and hit submit, it tells me the post has been added, which it has, but then rather than taking me back to the last post before it as it did previously it always takes me back to page one of the topic.  So I then have to click on say page 4 oor 5 to get my post and it takes it a while to load in.

I was able to duplicate the refresh problem on my father-in-law's machine. He's running IE and is on dial-up. Not sure why it's happening....
