 No, but it helps.

I'm more of an Alan Parsons Project man myself

the doors somehow manage to be overrated and underrated at the same time

Quoted for defining the situation perfectly.

Unrelated:  Year of the Cat by Al Stewart is a magical song in some way I can't entirely describe, but it completely transports me every time I hear it, in a way that hundreds of other songs aim to do but fail.

Never was a big Led Zeppelin fan.

The Animals should have been more popular.

Frank Zappa was an underrated guitar player.

Never understood Janis Joplin's appeal, she might have been better, without the Southern Comfort.

Without Slash, Izzy, and Duff, I don't want to hear some sub-par crap from Axl & Company.

I was more referring to Knopfler's solo work. But Dire Straits can count as well. :)

Alice in Chains may have been the best band from the Seattle/grunge era.  But Soundgarden was pretty kick ass.

Sonic Youth is one of the most underrated bands of all time.  Some of their stuff is just noise, but when they are ON it's magical.

The Pixies rock my world.

There is some great stuff coming out of the hip hop community.  Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Pharrell Williams of NERD, Jill Scott, and Erykah Badu are awesome.

I think the kids today should listen to The Misfits instead of The Ramones.

I prefer the Who to Led Zeppelin.  But anything after Keith Moon isn't the same.

Oasis is one of the best rock bands I have ever heard.  It seems like no one actually plays the instrument anymore...Noel Gallagher is a pretty bad ass guitarist.

Our Lady Peace and The Tragically Hip are the Pearl Jam and Nirvana of Canada.  At least that's what me and my best friend say.  Yeah, I know people love Barenaked Ladies but OLP is way better.  Just go listen to Naveed and Gravity.

Speaking of Pearl Jam, Ten was awesome.  They seemed to have a bit of a lull but I like the new stuff they are putting out.

The Dandy Warhols are very underrated.  I wish that everyone knew something other than Bohemian Like You or We Used to Be Friends.  There's so much more to their library.

Sloan is one of the greatest bands of the 90s.

I only have a small handful of American bands in my library.  Most of what I listen to is British (The Smiths, Morrissey, Depeche Mode, Stone Roses, Oasis, The Charlatans, Suede, Pulp, etc) or Canadian (The Hip, Our Lady Peace, Sloan, Skinny Puppy, etc).

this reminds me of one: keith moon was absolutely without a doubt the best drummer of all time. you'd have to be deaf and retarded not to hear that he's an order of magnitude better than neal peart, john bonham and the other very good but still not really anywhere near as good as keith moon drummers put forth as "best ever."

I completely agree.  When I hear him drum it's almost as if he is two people drumming at the same time.  The only person I have heard who can at least hold his own next to him is Zak Starkey and that's just because he was actually taught by Keith Moon.  So I guess that would mean that he would have a tendincy to sound a bit like him.  When I saw Oasis with Starkey as their drummer they did a cover of My Generation and it was fantastic!  That's as close as I will ever get to seeing Keith Moon live...

QUOTE:It should be against the law to not like Mark Knopfler.

AMEN!  I heard Eric Clapton say, in an interview, that Mark Knopfler was his favorite guitarist.  As he has been mine since 1978.  The most expressive, emotive, effortlessly flowing guitar ever.  His playing and vocals on You and Your Friend (from On Every Street) can make me faint...and he's only gotten better as he career goes on.

Led Zeppelin is hugely overrated.

Pearl Jam is better than Nirvana.

AC/DC never did a thing for me.

I really like The Psychedelic Furs.

Love Spit Love is good, too. I freakin' LOVE the "How Soon Is Now?" cover. It's almost as good as the Smiths' version IMO.

AC/DC is good for 1 song here or there.  I can't  listen to a whole cd.  It's jock-rock.

I prefer Billy Joel to Elton John.

Sheila E. is an underrated drummer.

All Linkin Park songs sound the same.

Dave Matthews Band - What the hell is that crap?

...and always : David Lee Roth, not Sammy Hagar!

I have found I am the only American who hates Bruce Springsteen. This causes many problems with my friends, usually lots of name calling, but I can't help myself.  I don't care for him.

I love Steve Winwood.  The guy is a musical genius!  Everything he touches is gold, well, except for his 80s period where he did that super synth pop shit.

And I love Dean Martin.  I really have nothing to justify this with other than I love him and all his cheesiness!

I can't stand his early stuff. If I hear "Born in the USA" one more time, I'm going to set him on fire. I found though that I like his last couple of albums, but that's mainly because they're more mellow and feel almost like folk music.

Bruce Hornsby never gets enough love. Neither does Roger McGuinn. Or Jackson Browne for that matter.

I think the Beastie Boys are unbelievably overrated. Yes, they make fun music. But people act like they're geniuses and I've just never seen that. Ever. Though I do appreciate their love for Tibet...

Van Halen's self-titled debut album is hands down the best debut album in rock history

You're right, Bruce Hornsby and Jackson Browne don;t get enough love.  I also think that Jim Croce falls into the same category.  I have been listening to his greatest hits lately and it's pretty brilliant.

Appetite For Destruction - Guns N' Roses

Blizzard of Ozz - Ozzy (solo debut)

Nevermind the Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols - The Sex Pistols

Ramones - Ramones

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath

Kill 'Em All - Metallica

It's only corny if you listen to it ironically.
