QUOTE:Yup, that was one of the main selling points of the DVD sets for me. Optional laugh tracks. Though I do leave it on for almost all episodes in the first two seasons because it seems far more fitting there, I keep the track off for all the other season where they were still using the laugh track. It's glorious.

 i'm almost literally drooling

Even with Saunders producing, they'll never capture the magic the original show had.  In this politically-correct America, it won't have the same bite the british show had.  At least they're trying to remake something good though, it's not like they remade Knight Rider!  Oh wait - I stand corrected!

QUOTE:For all you Trekkies who need all the shows on DVD, a friend passed along this website and you can get all 5 series, all seasons for $389.99. Website below

http://www.anyboxset.com/clearance/all-five-star-trek-complete-dvd-collection-box-set.html

They are recordings of someone recording someone in China watching all of the Star Trek DVDs.  Gives it that gritty, dark feel like New Battlestar Galactica.

Banana Splits - Had to pick something from my childhood. It could have very easily been Johnny Quest, but as the BS theme has been going through my head regularly of late it wins out. (For some reason recently I've taken to hearing the numbers in German.  Go figure.)

Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea - Another blast from my past.  This also could have been replaced with Space 1999 or some other obscure Sci Fi T.V. show.  They have the advantage over the Star Trek in that  I haven't seen them since the 70's and as such haven't come to the realization that some of it really isn't that good.

The Simpson - Some of it can be painful to watch (I'm looking at you Gil) but at its peak it was the best of the best.

Nowhere Man - Good call secret.  I enjoyed the series and was greatly annoyed when they pulled the greatest unresolved cliff hanger since TP.

WKRP in Cincinnati - Something from my teenage years is required as the TV and I spent so much time together then.  You all would have laughed at me if I'd put Dukes of Hazzard.

Oh. Yeah.  Twin Peaks is pretty good too.

1. "24": Jack Bauer is the f'n man!

2. The Big Bang Theory: So fucking funny this show, plus Kaley Cuoco is a babe!

3. X-Files: Mulder and Scully kick ass, except the last movie which was tosh!

4. Alias: The show that brought me and Lizzie together, which I am indebted to JJ for, even though Cloverfield was utter shite!

5. Family Guy: Seth McFarlane is a comedy genius, enough said!

"Ive got good news....that gum you like is going to come back in style!"

My favorite non-Twin Peaks shows are the kinds that are, you know, quirky and eccentric, in other words Lynchian.

seth macfarlane is an incredibly funny human being, but he needs an editor REALLY badly. just someone to tell him which ideas are terrible (roughly 60% of them)

I haven't seen enough of it to form any opinions other than Seth Green is not a good voice actor.

robot chicken is like family guy in that when they make actual jokes, it's pretty funny. however, when the punchline is "hey, remember the 80s?!!?!?" then it's beyond awful

the sad thing is that it's so easy to make actual comedy out of the 80s, like when peter went back in time and brian sang "never gonna give you up" (YEARS before that songs became a meme that was run into the ground) at the under the sea dance. it was a spoof on both rick astley and back to the future, not to mention that it's arbitrarily the 50s in the middle of an episode set in the 80s. multi-layered, well-executed comedy gold.

on the flip side, there was that time peter went to work in a shot-for-shot remake of marty skateboarding to school in back to the future. i kept waiting for a punchline, but nope! it's just recreating scenes from your favorite movies with our shitball animated characters. LAZY AS FUCK.

i know you're chief contrarian around here but that's seriously the laziest excuse for comedy possible

why not just make a version of gremlins starring all the south park characters, without changing a single shot, set design, word of dialogue, or note of music

HILARITY

I own thw first two seasons of Robot Chicken on DVD, haven't gotten the third, yet. I also own all but the first two volumes of Family Guy. Maybe it's lazy comedy, but it makes me laugh.

That "Back To The Future" pisstake is one of my favourite eppys of Family Guy, fookin' outstanding episode. But yeah some bits in Family Guy can get irritating. I agree with you on the good editor bit Nefud, you speak the truth!
