It is not a stretch for fans of a mystery series to possibly enjoy another mystery series.  Good ones don't come along very often and Lost, contrary to your belief, is a critically acclaimed show.  I like Twin Peaks better, but I am sure many Lost fans would scoff at Twin Peaks.  They are apples and oranges, but they are both serial mysteries that will stand the test of time.  We all know what opinions are like.

I never said I didn't believe it was a critically acclaimed show. Where did I say that? Please, point it out. I'd love to know.

And no, it's not a stretch to think that someone who enjoys mysteries would indeed enjoy a show that is one big mystery, but you are apparently just floored that we aren't circle-jerking over Lost. You've stated it twice how shocked you are. And I just don't understand what's so surprising. It's as though we're just failing you because we aren't living up to your expectations.

Well at least we know my asshole and yours are in good company, eh?

I wasn't aware you were the spokesperson for every member of the site.

All I'm saying is I am surprised there is little to no interest in Lost on here, not that every member of this site should be obsessed with Lost.

Hey, has anyone seen Hope & Faith? The show reminded me of Twin Peaks, the characters are like soo quirky.

QUOTE: I just think since Lost will be getting closure it would be less rewatchable.

But there are so many unresolved mysteries on Lost, that there is no way that they can answer them all. Personally, I see that as a bit of a failing, but it means there will definitely not be total closure. I would be astounded if they managed to wrap up everything.

I think Lost is a great show in its own right, but I don't think there is any particular reason for TP fans to enjoy it any more than others (apart from they definitely have a good taste in TV ).

I think Lost has more similarities with Carnivale (another great show). Although I thought that more during Season 3, Lost has changed a lot in the last few years.

Haha, I know the feeling.  It is just a television show after all, but...

...when I hear someone say The Sopranos sucked, I have to truly question their existence.  You're an idiot, babe, it's a wonder that you still know how to breathe and stuff.  Gets to me too.

I have only seen one ep and it kind of confused me so I didn't watch it again.  I am sure if I started watching it from the beginning I would like the show but I never was able to get into it.

Susan - I love the Sorpranos, too bad I didn't have HBO to watch it religiously...

I wish I had an interesting theory to tell you about. Jacob seems to have taken a backseat recently, there's too much other stuff going on. But I think the time-travel situation could well play a big part in the origins of Jacob. I wouldn't be surprised if he was from the future; maybe even one of the current Losties that has gone back in time to the Island. If that were true, Locke would be my guess.

Christian Shephard's involvement with Jacob is the bit that is really puzzling me.

What do you think of the new season so far, j? I'm yet to watch the third episode btw, so don't tell me about that yet.

I bet the writers don't reveal much about Jacob until Season 6.

Last night's episode was good and had some good revelations.

Does Lost come on at a delayed date and time overseas?  Just curious.

I have enjoyed this season so far, although it has taken me awhile to get back into the swing of things since it had been off the air for so long.  I finally feel like we are moving towards a conclusion and the episodes are about answers than new mysteries these days.  It is still very confusing especially with the time travel aspects.  I like to read what other people say about the episode on Lost boards the next day to help me better understand what I witnessed.  LOL

Of course it does, ABC is an American channel. Then afterwards you have to add some time for subtitling or dubbing.

Agreed- good episode.  Good informative but tantalizing background on a couple of characters. I thought the image of the big fat hydrogen bomb hanging from the wooden tower, creaking and swaying in the breeze, was pretty awesome.

My curiosity re: Faraday is growing- so what exactly was the order of events in his life and when exactly did he go crazy?

Well, in England they obviously don't have to do any of that, but there is still usually quite a long delay. For this season of Lost, Sky 1 have done quite well to only show it 4 days later though. For this kind of show I'm sure they would work a lot harder to air it quickly otherwise people get impatient and either look up spoilers (and lose interest in watching it) or download it.

Wow, I feel like such an idiot. I never got that reference. And they couldn't have made it more blatent!

I wonder if they will explain some of the surnames that the characters have. By explain, I mean come up with some reason for it. Because, it often seems like very in-your-face referencing, when characters have surnames like Locke, Rousseau, Hume, Faraday etc.

I have a reasonable belief Jacob is Jack. He will never leave the island again as Ben told him.

The question "Are you him?" has come up multiple times over the seasons.  Who is him?  Jacob?  Jack?

Are you referring to Desmond's "are you him?" questions. Isn't that just asking if they're his replacement on hatch duties. It does seem unnecessarily vague though.

Sorry, when I said "unnecessarily vague" I didn't mean you! I mean the question, "Are you him?". It;s just with all the Wikipedia links in your next post it looks like your making an effort not to be "unnecessarily vague"

bumping to keep coolsprings from feeling sad...

I didn't think this episode had quite the punch that the previous one did.  Given that there is zero suspense about whether the Oceanic 6 will end up back on the island, Ben's maneuverings to get Kate didn't really surprise me.  Also the hint that some of the people in the nosebleed club may have been on the island before was sort of a throw-away- at least for me not enough info to give my mind traction to figure out how it might have happened.   I did like the boat chase scene (and who were those guys?), and the re-appearance of the character from last season who we all pretty much thought was fish-food...

Kate-centric episodes usually blow.  This one was average at best.

I bet Miles is Marvin Candle's son!

That "twist" about the French girl being Rousseau could be seen coming from 500 miles away...

I know. Maybe it is to make sure that more casual fans know what is going on, but sometimes Lost over-clarifies things, and it comes off as being a bit patronising. It was obvious that she was Rousseau once we heard the group speaking French, then we see her pregnant, and then she goes "My name is Danielle, Danielle Rousseau" and Giacchino's not-so-subtle score pipes up. Do you think a different actress was used because of the age gap, or would they have tried to use this new de-aging technique on the previous actress (if she hadn't quit the show)? Can you imagine, if someone like Terry O'Quinn (John Locke) suddenly decided he wanted to quit the show? It would completely ruin it.

I actually thought this was a good episode though. Better than The Lie. I thought that the Oceanic 6 storyline was a bit more interesting. The Island goings-on are so much more fun though. I've got to say that they seem to have messed up the whole Oceanic 6 thing. Season 4 anti-climaxed as we'd already seen the interesting stuff and we just saw what we knew was gonna happen (them getting off the island). Season 3 finale was amazing and then working its way back to the present in Season 4 was less interesting. And now, we're seeing them try and get back to the Island, but we've already been told numerous times by the writers that they will get back to the Island, and soon. So it's a bit boring already. It's funny, in the first three seasons, the possibility of them getting off the Island was tantalising, and then once they did, we just want them to get back! It just doesn't feel the same off the Island.

I think the general opinion was that we would see all of the Island's mysteries revealed using the time-travel device, but now that there is the urgency to get back to The Orchid and reverse the effects, with the nose-bleeds and everything, how are they going to keep the time-travel element throughout the season. It would also get frustrating if the Time Flashes kept on throwing the characters about in time every episode. The only thing I can think of is that, when they turn the Wheel in The Orchid (I assume that's how he gets off the Island and becomes Jeremy Bentham), that the time flashes stop, but they get stuck in whatever time period they were in. Thoughts?
